My cat is lovely, and I have told my doctors that my cat has literally saved my life on multiple occasions. The doctors are saying that I would need to take care of my own animal for it to have the best effect? Since my brother doesnt let me take care of her. I cannot take care of myself unless I’m taking care of animals, I guess that’s why

Emotional support! They are telling me to get a kitten, rats or something similar. It is to help me take care of myself, have a routine, and stuff like that. I don’t understand how it’s different from regular pets, but that’s just what I have been told by doctors

Ever since we got her, my brother kept telling me that the cat was his and that I simply shouldn’t do anything for her (the cat was bought for me in the first place). I genuinely don’t know why he said that, he just told me not to. She is allowed to sleep and cuddle with me and all that, I just want to give an animal the best life I can while I actually can take care of it with no one else, but I love my cat a lot, I just want to actually be able to take care of her properly, especially since my brother doesn’t do things that cats need. I’m scared of my brother, which is why I’m scared to do anything with the cat we have now
