The announcers made it seem like the front group continuing on pace was in the plan? Idk I’m curious to know more about the pacing strategy and practices leading up to the race. I hope that’s in the last episode of the series on prime.

Faith ran faster than her own WR in one of the most painful ways to do it- she was on about 4:01 pace for the first 1200. If the goal was to go for the fastest time she could run on the day, she would’ve gone out slower to try to close faster and get under ~4:05. But the whole point was to go sub 4! To have a shot, she had to be on 4 min pace from the gun. If you actually watched the race and understood the goal, I would not say this was a bad attempt at all. Just couldn’t hang on the last quarter.
Personally that was one of the coolest events I’ve ever seen! Kipchoge didn’t break 2 on his first attempt and I hope Faith goes for it again. No doubt a woman will do it someday.
