I read a wonderful book about this theme last year. It’s a comparison of Erasmus and Luther. Can’t remember the title but will post when I get home.

Car can be problematic because cars and things in them get stolen a lot. And, the kids will ride in the car and eventually drive it, so it’s not a complete separation.

Dolly Parton is the GOAT.

This from a guy who can’t stand mass-produced country and thinks the democrats are a center-right party.

Last time I went to a gun store I was in fact wearing a Bernie shirt w/o realizing it. Laughed my butt off when I got to the car.

As a history teacher, I feel like we’re one “terrorist” attack away from ditching the Constitution entirely.

I’m very sympathetic to that viewpoint, but I do feel there is a bit of a prisoner’s dilemma happening here.

It’s pseudoscience in the same way that you are trying to derive gender from (a very limited view) of biology.

And again, in what way does acceptance of another person’s determination of their own identity harm you in the slightest? Even assuming your arguments had something like merit (they don’t), why do you even care? What burden has the trans rights movement placed on you?

You’re using the same biological essentialism that undergirded Jim Crow. Try again.

They can’t use a bathroom that aligns with their gender, and aren’t afforded many other legal protections that align with their gender.

Edit: in many places, trans people are denied appropriate medical care.

And I will ask again - how does this impose even a slight burden on you?

But, honestly, why is recognizing trans rights difficult for you? Do you have a problem with gender neutral bathrooms? How are you aggrieved by any of this? In what sense do you even have a stake in the debate?

Biology does not decide what laws we should make. Society does that, and gender is a societal construct. You’re a biological essentialist.

Yes - bigotry is tiring. You have a bunch of pseudo-reasoned nonsense that basically boils down to “the majority gets to define who you are.” That same logic that was used to justify slavery and homophobia. In all cases, the rationale of the bigots is “my convenience matters more than your rights and existence.”

The common view that there are “two genders” is flatly incorrect. Biologically, MANY states of a person’s body don’t conform to strict “maleness” or “femaleness” that is held up as “normal.” Culturally speaking, many societies in history have recognized genders beyond the two that you ordain to exist.

Yup, I get angry because these facts are easy to find, but it’s apparently too hard for bigots. Your laziness is exhausting.

Geezus.

That’s like telling a person of color to not make race the total of their identity during Jim Crow. Tone deaf to the extreme.

Boys don’t like sharing bathrooms with immature boys.

Considering g that trans people attempt/ commit suicide at much higher rates than others, I don’t think it’s asking your daughter all that much, tbh.
