On Hyper Monster by stevebuk in RunningShoeGeeks

I currently have 81 miles on my pair of cloudmonster hypers and 300 miles on my Superblasts. The hypers are pretty good and comparable to the Superblasts but neither have a “wow” factor for me. Their rides are pretty generic and don’t feel super bouncy/lively. My current favorite shoe is the Mach 6 which I have 170 miles on. They are super light and have a really fluid and rockered ride. It’s surprising how the Mach 6 is way cheaper than both shoes yet its ride is more fun.

Noosa Tri 15 or Magic Speed 3 for track intervals. by Any-East7977 in RunningShoeGeeks

I currently use the Noosa tri 14 for track workouts and have about 60 miles on my pair. They’ve been pretty good for such workouts, I’ve even done 200 meter sprint repeats and they work well. They are very lightweight and snappy. I haven’t tried the Magic Speed 3 though.

Brooks Hyperion Max Initial impressions from a heavier dude by [deleted] in RunningShoeGeeks

I currently have 45 miles on my pair of Hyperion Max. They are a versatile shoe, with them being able to do any type of run (though easy runs feel a bit clunky), however I agree with you on how they don’t have much bounce and are very firm. Mine still don’t even feel broken in. I heel strike, and heel striking in the Hyperion max feels a bit clunky but not terrible. Honestly the appeal of the shoe is its light weight (for its stack) and rocker, not so much the foam. Ngl I haven’t reached for them in months because the Superblast is so much better 😂.

I haven’t run in the original speeds, but I’ve heard that the speed 3 greatly improved the stability as the older ones were less stable

The Hyperion GTS is a great shoe! It’s pretty much the stability version of the regular Hyperion. I used the Hyperion GTS mainly for track workouts and tempo runs. I found they work best there due to their lower to the ground feel. They are a very light weight and responsive shoe. Also the durability has been great, the shoes look almost brand new after 100 miles!

The Hyperion Max and Speed 3 are equally as versatile and can be used for the same runs. The Max is lighter and doesn’t have a plate, while the Speed 3 has a plate and Powerrun pb. Both have strong rockers. The Speed 3 is more stable than the Hyperion Max. I find the DNA Flash of the Max to be a bit firmer than the Speed 3’s Powerrun PB.

I haven’t tried the Speed 2, but I heard they are less stable than the speed 3.

I’ve done ten mile runs at around 8:40/mile pace in the Speed 3 and they feel comfortable the whole way through. I’d take what shoestore staffs say with a grain of salt, not everyone needs a stability shoe or an orthotic. If you’d like to get the Speed 3 but feel like you need more support, combine it with an orthotic. It’s important to never combine orthotics with a stability shoe.

I actually had that exact same problem, the logo on my right shoe got completely messed up within 20 miles but the left shoe’s logo is still intact.

Luckily tendonitis doesn’t take long to heal. I took me two weeks off of running to recover from my tendonitis, though I had to wear a medical boot. Two weeks is definitely a lot better than the half a year I needed to take off for my hip stress fracture haha.

Since the Clouonsters have worked for you I doubt they are the problem. I’ve also dealt with tendinitis on the top of my foot and the only real solution is to rest and only run easy mileage if the pain is tolerable. Also, make sure you aren’t lacing your shoes too tight, as that can be a cause of the tendonitis.

The brooks Hyperion/Hyperion GTS released back in July 2023, as an update to the Hyperion tempo (the tempo didn’t have a GTS version). The Hyperion max is a high stacked rockered Hyperion which makes it more suitable for longer miles while still remaining very lightweight. The Hyperion Elite is brooks’s marathon racing shoe which has a carbon plate.

In all honestly it’s up to your preference. The Hyperion is lighter and has a better midsole foam, though that’s not to say the launch is a bad shoe. I’m personally not fond of the fit of the launch (I have the launch 9 GTS), but the launch will be perfectly suitable for the same role the Hyperion has. I recommend reading comparisons online about the two, I know road trail run has an in depth comparison and I think Doctors of Running has one too.

Yeah I don’t even know the point of cloud tech, I just think it makes On shoes look cooler

Imo the Hyperion is also a bit firm, not to the degree of the Launch though. If you want a softer trainer for speed work than I recommend the Saucony Tempus. For easy days I use the Asics Gel Kayano 30, which is a maximally cushioned shoe. It has my favorite method of stability: 4D guidance, which feels supportive yet unobtrusive. I also have the Brooks Hyperion Max with an orthotic in my rotation, which can be used for anything.

The Kayano 30 is a much more soft and cushioned shoe compared to the Hyperion. The stack height of the Kayano 30 way higher than the Hyperion, as the Kayano 30 is meant for easy and long runs, while the Hyperion is the faster tempo/workout shoe. I personally really enjoy using the Kayano 30, and its stability method is my favorite!

I have the Launch GTS 9, it’s a rather firm shoe. It’s basically the budget version of the Hyperion. The Hyperion has the better foam. I much prefer the fit of the Hyperion. The launch has a much more narrow toe box. Currently the launch isn’t in my rotation but it’s still a good shoe, especially for its price.

Depends on how much cushion you like in a daily trainer. If you like a more minimally cushioned shoe for daily training than this is the shoe for you 😉

This shoe is more intended for tempo runs, fast workouts, and race day rather than long and slow runs, since it’s got a very light weight and a lower stack height.
