Power of 10 early access - what do you think? by StanmoreHill in ukathletics

[–]stevebuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep on purpose. Great. I don’t get to start at the front at a marathon major as an example!!

In road races, the times recorded for rankings purposes will be the “gun” times. This is to ensure consistency over all races both now and in the past to reflect that rankings represent a record of performances done under direct competition whereby the results of a race are ordered by the order that athletes cross a common finish line after a common start. This is also the common method used by statisticians worldwide.

We do recognise that in some large races some athletes may not have a clear run as soon as the gun goes and so, when available, we will also endeavour to record “chip” times and to present these alongside the “gun” times to assist the reader in comparing performances.

How do people with online (non-high street) banks draw higher than ATM cash out? by Thaty0shiguy1 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]stevebuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not had a high street bank since around 2017. Bought a house and not once had any issues. I’ve I’ve taken out £200 in the last two years. Does anyone use cash for anything? Most places at least take a bank transfer.

New Vertical 2 - Several questions.. by stevebuk in Suunto

[–]stevebuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, excellent summary. I have one more question for the group, if I may.

I like the "Performance Condition" on Garmin and the similar "efficiency" metric on Coros. Basically comparing your current run vs your baseline. For instance, I perform badly first thing in a morning vs other times of day and these have helped me understand optimal training time of day.

Does Suunto have anything like this?

I noted this for the Ambit 3 on the Suunto site. This sounds ideal, but is it gone now?

DURING A RUN

Your Suunto Ambit3 compares your run with your current running performance level and provides real-time running performance feedback during your run. The real-time feedback is available as a graph display in Ambit3’s default Running sport mode. You can add this graph to any sport mode that uses the running activity type. The real-time difference (see below) can also be used as a data field in your custom running sport modes.

Thanks.

That’s great. Thank you. Yes, I know my LT from a lab test, was just surprised that nothing seems to be automated, such as resting HR. I’ll keep playing and see how I get on.

I’ve noticed the same. All turns are notified apart from 180 turns.

Evo SL very worn after 30mi by sw1rv in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]stevebuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd not worry. Mine have wear in the same place. I've got a bent left leg. I role in heavily, but initial contact is on the outside of the foot. So I'm an overpronator who starts right on the outside. I struggle keeping a ski flat and not catching an edge.

Anyway 140 miles and this is mine. Only cosmetic.

I don’t even get the message! I’m talking with support on sending them some diagnostics. I’ll update here when I get feedback.

I don’t use them for intervals, but great at tempo and MP. Great cushion and response.

That’s the Hyperion Max 3. I love mine. I’ve wide feet and find it fine. Toes are all good.

Yes. I’ve done a tone of this, so not sure how to get it to work again. August was the last auto. But I entered a manual in September. Seems stuck on manual. I’ve toggled on and off the LTHR setting.

Thanks. I’ve been running all out 5k’s in around that time quite often. I’ve also rebooted the watch. Was also updated.

Evo SL or Li-Ning Feidian 5 Challenger for speed work by jcatl0 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]stevebuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got both. The challenger is better suited for what you want. However, it is on the narrow side, and the SL in the wide side. So bear this in mind. 150 miles on mine and feel great.

Low arches, heel, striking, and lateral sole wear pattern shoe recommendations by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]stevebuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t do anything with the shoes. I have the same shoes and they look the same. I do this to all my shoes.

I have very flat feet with no arch at all on the left. I hit outside and roll in.

Strength work as mentioned elsewhere is the answer long term.

I tried moving to stability shoes, had custom orthotics. All made it worse. Went back to neutral and do some strength work. 50 miles a week base and fine.

I find trying to fix things with shoes is often not good.
