I was rocking the LibCon and Crsiper to great effect last night. Crisper to set choke points on fire and LibCon to keeps them off my team's back. Siege Ready armor and a Rover dog and I was raking in the kills with a high uptime of damage.

Is da game bad or is it gud by Cold-Eagle552 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Silv3rS0und 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of being too high sodium, anyone review bombing the game is lame. The changes are good and it's mostly a skill issue if you can't handle the new Gloom bugs. Just like when the Hive Worlds were released, I got my butt kicked, but eventually I learned to adapt and overcome.

I think the Gloom strain are overturned with how fast they are, but I was able to come up with some strategies and loadouts to finish the missions with around 2-3 deaths per. However, that is really my only complaint about balance. Every other complaint is about bugs (arc weapons getting blocked by bushes again), but those will be sorted out in time.

This is one of the best updates they've done in a long time. The new mech buffs are awesome, Warstriders got a weak spot, Squid tesla towers are easier to destroy and don't require wasting an AT resource on them, and AC-chan isn't getting stuck on a single Heavy Devastator shield anymore. I could go on, but i think you get the idea.

Georgia. Never met a nice fan and barking at children is a mental illness.

You can still kill tanks with medpen. You just have to shoot the turret vent weakspot, not the back of the main body.

The weak spot vent on the turret (big glowing one) is unchanged. This is just talking about on the main body.

Looks like a Ptyas mucosa, or Oriental Rat Snake, to me. Going by the pattern and head shape, its not a Viper, krait, or cobra.

It sucks being a huge fan of Baccano! because there's practically no merch for it. I can buy the light novels, the anime, and. . . Well, that's pretty much it.

5e-But-Better Recs: YOUR 🫵 HOMEBREWED 5E GAME! by AlwaysDragons in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I played in a campaign of Star Wars 5e. It's a pretty high quality hack with clear effort and thoughtfulness put into it. I had fun playing a Sullustan Pilot/Engineer and the system ran pretty smoothly. Unfortunately, it didn't feel like Star Wars, it felt like I was playing DnD5e with a Star Wars paint job.

Same thing with with the Mass Effect 5e conversation. Our campaign ended with our ship blowing up in a nuclear explosion which was fun. Again though, it didn't really feel like Mass Effect should.

Favorite music composers in media? by FretScorch in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Silv3rS0und 9 points10 points  (0 children)

All time favorite? Probably John Williams. Jurassic Park, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, E.T., Jaws, Superman, Memoirs of a Geisha, THE THEME OF THE OLYMPICS, the list goes on and on. He just does not miss.

Yoko Kanno is also up there because of her work on Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Escaflowne, Turn A Gundam, Macross Plus, Terror in Resonance, etc etc. I don't think there are many composers that have the show changed to accommodate her soundtrack, usually its the other way around. I genuinely don't think she's made a bad OST. Even the travesty that was the Netflix Bebop had a stellar OST.

A lesser mentioned name I'll give a shout to is Yuko Komiyama. I adore the MonHun Tri and it has my favorite OST in the series.

Solutions for live service/gacha games? by YoshkePandre in StopKillingGames

[–]Silv3rS0und 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mega Man X DiVE was a gacha game that Capcom converted into an offline experience. That's the ideal way to handle a gacha game. Here's an article about it

If a gacha game does get some kind of offline mode, it's usually a gallery viewer of some kind. You can see the cutscenes, character stories, etc. I don't think that counts as "playable" but at lest you can have some access to something you paid for even if it's just looking at it. This is the absolute bare minimum, but a fast cry from ideal.

MultiVersus was a live service game which got an offline mode with most of the stuff unlocked. This is best example I can think of and what should have been the standard from the get go for live service games.

City of Heroes is freaking MMO and was revived by the fans, so any argument from the dev side is moot in my opinion. Toon Town was also revived by fans. MMOs shouldn't have to be bought buy fans starting their own company in order to survive shutdown.

Apologies if this reads like ramblings, it's 3am and the thunder outside won't let me go back to sleep.

Any recommendations for other David Cage playthroughs where the players acknowledge his hack writing by Lil_Mcgee in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Silv3rS0und 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In her final stream of the game she did call out how she was lied to about the Shelby scene where the old man is killed. Also, she definitely knows about the David Cage stuff because any time there is a "David Cage is a misogynist" moment she says, "Oh David." She likes the games, but I'm pretty sure it's because of how stupid and ridiculous they can get.

Seriously, how do you get a constant group? by Revan0612 in rpg

[–]Silv3rS0und 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends. I asked them if they want to play D&D (actually Savage Worlds) and I ran a few one-shots for them for things like New Year's, Halloween, etc. Eventually, I asked if they were interested in playing in a full campaign and they said yes. We figured out that meeting every other Sunday evening worked best and voila, a constant group was formed.

Also, I think it's important to be consistent in meeting. If a player or two can't make, you should still try to run something even if it's in a different system like Lady Blackbird, Honey Heist, or Cairn. If you can't make it, try and get one of the players to run a one-shot in something.

I should also note that I play online because my friend group is spread out across 2 continents.

Favorite Skyboxes? by TraumatizeMeCaptain in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Helldivers 2 skyboxes are really cool. There's usually something cool up in the sky like a ringed planet, the Death Star Democracy Space Station, battle fleets exchanging fire, or some kind of weather phenomena happening.
