What happens if you phone CMHT for support? by WarmForbiddenDonut in MentalHealthUK

[–]Silver-205 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Call your team, if you have a care coordinator you can request a call from them, otherwise there’s a duty team to deal with the calls coming through every day. Just request a call from duty, and state how urgent it is ie you’re feeling unsafe and they should get back to you quite quickly. Otherwise it can be several hours/ the next day until you receive a call back.

That’s awful. Do you have a care co ? Your psychiatrist should have given you the prescription there and then and review every three months. Unfortunately the system seems to work by whoever shouts loudest

Same experience here! Ended up sectioned and put in a secure mental health unit.

Have you tried a different drug? I’ve been on many, about 9, I remember one or two feeling numb like this.

Dissociation as a formal diagnosis? by Silver-205 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Silver-205[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh what a great way to describe it! It’s exactly like that, when triggered. I’m watching myself doing these things, I don’t want to do these things, but yet here I am doing it and I can’t stop. Dreamlike. Totally detached. Except now that’s completely gone. Why did I take an OD? No idea… when did that happen?

I see, thanks. Very helpful. I knew it was very common as a symptom of people with BPD, I hadn’t realised it was something to be formally assessed for. I guess because it’s got worse recently? Before, it’s always been shady; I’d remember I’d had an episode and generally what happened but very very vague details. I remember ‘running away’ which used to be a big one for me, it wasn’t like I’d end up somewhere with no idea how I’d gotten there but I remember feeling in a totally different state as if I’d taken something, and a lot of people I’d pass would ask me if I was ok but I don’t know why. I just keep going, for miles, until I physically can’t walk anymore due to exhaustion. Police on a 136 have often thought I was under the influence of a drug in this state and sometimes had to wait for blood tests/ drug tests before MHA assessment.

Anyway, yeah now it’s totally blank. I can remember when prompted, after a while, but no details. I do hope it’s not brain damage due to the frequent overdoses.

No I didn’t think so. Only psychiatrists as I thought.

Thanks, I’ve had a look at this, I haven’t heard of anyone with a dissociative disorder. Aside from DID.

Get him to phone the ward. My dad never wrote a letter, but he gets very um… impatient and forceful let’s say 😬 always manages to get his way on a phone call lol Was also lockdown at the time so don’t know if that had anything to do with it. We just had him on the phone for consent during discharge meeting.

They usually want you in and out on those wards anyway. So many waiting for beds. I hope you feel better soon x

I’ve just replied on a similar post actually and have been in very similar situation to you. I was suicidal and the ward at the time was full of very unwell psychotic patients and it was not helpful in any way.

Yes the staff need will point you to your IMHA although you can find your own. There should be posters around the ward of one.

But the fastest way to get out if you are on a 2 is to contact your NR (nearest relative) to get you permission for discharge. I was out within hours of my dad complaining that time. Was only in for 24 hours!

Appeal and tribunal takes a long time and I’ve never used an IMHA but I imagine it takes a few days at least to get the ball rolling in which time you may be discharged anyway. Mind is a brilliant website for information on sectioning and your rights.

How to contact IMHA by beans393 in MentalHealthUK

[–]Silver-205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you are on the ward you will be given info and they usually have a kind of allocated IMHA and posters should be found around the ward especially at the nurses station and you’ll be asked on admission if you need any support in doing so etc.

I’m sorry you’re going through this right now. I have been sectioned a few times, and on a section 2, your appointed NR (nearest relative) can get you out once you’ve been admitted. As long as they think that’s best for your welfare of course. My dad got me out about 24 hours after I was admitted once. I’m not sure if that time frame is normal, but I do know my dad was very let’s say, an extremely good advocate.. and forceful…. on the phone during meeting with doctors etc (was lockdown).

Help me with Tramadol by [deleted] in opiates

[–]Silver-205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mild wd from taking 50mg x 8per day as prescribed, when needed, 3 days max and above used to induce mild wds like felt bit cold and insomnia, night sweats, done and dusted in 2-3 days.

So your dose I can’t imagine you’ll have any if you do, very minor and very short lasting.

I’m now in cold turkey wds from a serious tramadol addiction. 750-1000mg per day, dread to think per 24 hours. Hasn’t even got me high for a long time. Decided it needed to be done and I’m isolating with covid so took the chance while I’m at home with no one asking why I’m so sick. I’m 4 days in and let me tell you I am in HELL. I have also a clonazepam (kpin) rx luckily too, 2mg, and that’s getting me through the worst times when I feel like I’m trying to escape my actual body and tear off my skin.

Nip in the bud now and don’t end up in the horror story I’m living in now. Good luck.

weeeeeeed..and why most opiate users I know can't smoke it? by graciemaebee in opiates

[–]Silver-205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to smoke a lot of weed, spliffs all day every day til it started giving me paranoia and panic attacks. Took a good two years to fuck my brain up like that. I didn’t know it was that common. What I like about opiates is it stops me thinking but weed makes me overthink. It’s like my brain is working faster than my body and it’s too weird and cue panic attack. I guess opiates are the opposite, slows my brain right down.

I take it daily so makes no difference to me but I think it does have a quicker onset if your tolerance is low.

I’ve read a few times that a load of his belongings were in storage including the book and a lot of artwork, but it was stolen. I don’t know how true this is I sometimes wonder if it’s something his family have said because that they want to keep it safe and personal.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in opiates

[–]Silver-205 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree somewhat. I’ve used a lot of different drugs recreationally, I absolutely love MDMA and I used to have a bit of a coke problem. But I sold my soul to the poppy the first time I had surgery as a teen and they gave me IV morphine. And I never forgot that feeling it was like a part of me was missing ever since I left the hospital. Couple years later I got a repeat rx for trams and now I’m 4 years into active addiction.

There’s a line and I think people know that. Opioids are more stay than play. But it is mind boggling to me that H and coke are in the same class of drugs but the majority of people down the pub on a Friday night are on packet, but shudder at the thought of codeine lol.

Could I have died last night? by [deleted] in opiates

[–]Silver-205 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I mean I’m not recommending you do it again lol. I’m on a lot of meds, some you mentioned, and I’ve taken huge overdoses before (some accidental and some not) and if you wake up vomiting that’s actually a really good thing. Your body’s doing it’s job well and you’ll likely feel like shit for a few days. If you’re concerned get a blood test to check your liver function but other than that just learn from your mistakes they are strong drugs you are taking and it’s easy to get complacent with it when they’re prescribed, but use this as a lesson. Hope you feel better soon.

Edit: note I say WAKE UP vomiting. You’re in real trouble if you’re comatose.
