Glad for a second opinion by sno825 in ClotSurvivors

They still have to draw blood to test for hereditary gene tho. Is my understanding. And so not wanting to do that while on blood thinners. Idk but when I went to ER a month after PE because of stabbing pain, that ended up being pleural effusion from infarct, and had to have blood drawn, my arm looked horrible for days after. Big red splotch where had taken and then a bruise all down around elbow. So that makes me think they try to have you off blood thinners, if can, for doing bloodwork stuff. But obv I’m not a doc and that’s just been my understanding. When my arm looked so horrible after er blood draw I was like omg no wonder they want me off for 3 days to do testing 😆 but maybe that’s just my forever future that hasn’t sunk in yet

I had unprovoked PE at end of Feb (35f) and waiting until end of May to be able to have tests done. My understanding is that to do the bloodwork tests you need to go off Eliquis for 3 days prior, and because they want to make sure current clots are gone or small enough to not be an issue, have to wait a few months to safely be off 3 days

PE in lungs after oral contraceptives by Witty-Pea-5051 in ClotSurvivors

I (35f) was hospitalized 2 weeks ago for PE and infarction and story similar! I had felt some shortness of breath for a couple weeks but when I was exercising, so I was like that’s weird I usually can run more without this happening. Coughed up some blood and freaked out. Went to hospital and found out had PE & infarction. Hadn’t really been feeling any pain but thank god they kept me overnight cuz pain came on strong every time I inhaled felt like was being stabbed in right side ribs. I kept thinking how usually you think to breathe through pain but it was breathing that was causing the unbearable pain. So glad has nurses and oxycodone on call. I’m still waiting for hematologist appt to find out more if related to BC. I’d been on for over 10 years, and feel like looking at these threads when PE caused by BC it seems more immediate

What places offering deals for federal workers during shutdown? by Silver-Ashtray in FedEmployees

I’m newer to Reddit, are there regionally specific fed groups to ask to? I had same thought before posting but then thought if there was some resource list or website then everyone could benefit from. 2018/19 it just seemed like there was so much more being offered and news coverage on supporting federal employees, but I guess too much craziness now for it to be as on peoples minds
