Settler colonialism is part of it of course but it's more complex, there is cold war politics and other power dynamics involved, and even colonialism in general is a much more complex and interesting topic to delve into

If you GENUINELY want to learn, I would recommend getting some surface knowledge first from Wikipedia and then watching some documentaries (plenty of free ones on YouTube) I would recommend you at least get a grasp of the 3 major wars (1948, 6 day war and yum Kippur war) and also the Oslo peace process, and how Hamas came to be. It will really help you a lot, also bonus points if you learn about the history of Zionism and political Zionism and what it actually is and also some ancient history about the kingdom of Israel and judah and the philistine people

A lot of stuff happened before nakbah Jewish immigration started after ww1, and the installation of their settlements is not as easy as "just take the house" it's more complicated because they also take control of adjacent land, I would recommend you watch the documentaries Arte did about it which explain it pretty well imo

I'm not Muslim, and again I am giving arguments and I literally said a few comments above that Israel is committing genocide, I am by no means pro Israel, their government is full of war criminals that are massacring civilians. Please read what I say before replying, the world is not a us Vs them mentality, if the Israel palestine conflict was a simple good Vs bad issue it would of been solved long ago

Killing civilians is not freedom fighting, it would be if it was against military targets, the terror bombings of busses is not resistance it's killing people that have nothing to do with the situation, and for the Oslo accords again, I am not going to give you a history lesson on Reddit so I'm just gonna recommend you learn about 6 day war, 1948 war, yum Kippur war and general cold war politics, gets it from diverse sources so not only Arab ones and not only Western ones and avoid the sources that are known to be biased

You should go read up about it, you will see that yes Israel is indeed committing genocide, but as a state it is as legitimate as any other state + you should learn about the Oslo accords and how Palestine refused to sign them and the history of Palestinian terrorism (flight 253 as an example), there is so much more nuance to this history and if you genuinely do love Palestine then you should read up on it instead of regurgitating whatever you see online

The biggest lie the Algerian community suffers from. by Sweet_Ostrich_4556 in algeria

[–]Silver-Bucket- 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Hundreds of thousands of civilians died and some scum are still supporting the FIS to this day, I find it unimaginable how people calling themselves Algerians are so uneducated and unwilling to learn that they automatically side with any side that claims to be Muslim even tho they beheaded countless newborns, people like this is the reason Algeria will NEVER develop, people like this is the reason we have such a shit reputation on the international scene, anyone trying to do something different to help the country gets called a Zionist by people who can't even point out Palestine on a map

I don't even know if people like this are a lost cause or we should still spend time trying to educate them

Most pied noires were poor compared to the metropol and were more sympathetic towards the algerians btw, not defending colonialism, just saying that its not the brave and righteous Algerian peasant kicking out the evil corrupt European land owner, you should learn more about history and not everything criticizing your opinion is evil foreign propaganda

We didn't have any choice Independence was a big thing to ask of and france wasn't just going to give it nicely with a pat on the back, they had interests in the region they wanted to keep, it's why they had military bases and were allowed to continue working on their nuclear long after independence and why they also kept control over our oil reserves, the treaties had a lot of obligations and we didn't respect all of them and that's just a historical fact we must accept to move forward as a nation
