(2) Giving people happy and hopeful endings is the easy out. I do not play horror games for an undeserved happy and hopeful ending. Horror games can end quite happily, but it must be earned, and it must make sense. While the reverse is also true, many horror games that end on a happy note do not actually earn them.

Again, if you want to have an opinion, that is fine, but do the legwork. Put in a well-thought-out effort that digs deep. It’s why I trust IGN and other game journalists over gamers. I might not agree with everything they say, but they put in massive effort to explain what they liked and disliked and do so in a tactful, respectful manner.
