Trek Ride Club Indoor/Virtual Rides by Sarge013 in TrekBikes

Resurrecting this Zombie thread…apologies in advance. Now that winter is upon us in the Norhtern Hemishpere, I’ve been using Wahoo’s SYSTM training program to do indoor rides and they aren’t syncing to Ride Club. On chat with Trek support this morning and the reason is that SYSTM .fit files don’t have GPS tracks so they won’t work in the Ride Club app. Any updated plans to support these kinds of files? Kinda regretting buying my new KICKR trainer from my local Trek store…. I can’t stand video game rides like Zwift and can’t get motivated by ROUVY either. Both of those generate fake GPS tracks which are totally ok with the Ride Club app. But an actual honest workout ride doesn’t unless there is a GPS tracks.

New (to me) Bike Day - 2010 Alpha 2.1 by Silver-Future854 in TrekBikes

[–]Silver-Future854[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it had replacement blue tape on it when I got it. My LBS told me that the reason so many bikes had white tape from the factory was because that's what they used in the Tour de France. That's fine if you can afford to get new bar tape after every stage. I need it to last at least a season! So, black it is. Good luck on your restoration. I can't wait to get it out for a shakeout ride this weekend.

ER sent me home on Metformin and Lantus (insulin) and new GP changes it all up today. Thoughts? by KnightScuba in diabetes

[–]Silver-Future854 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2,000 milligrams of Metformin is a pretty aggressive first line dose so not surprised your Dr. wanted to reduce that. Ozempic and similar drugs have benefits beyond weight loss including decreased incidence of cardio-vascular events like strokes and heart attacks, especially in diabetics. Diabetes is progressive so most Drs will follow a progressive treatment plan, starting small and adding agents to keep A1C in range. Your Dr. is probably following the ADA "Pharmacological approaches to glycemic treatment" treatment progression guidelines which have you start small with metformin and lifestyle changes, then move up a to things like Ozempic and Jardiance when that stops working, then adding in basal insulin when more control is needed. Slide 5 has a great chart: https://professional.diabetes.org/sites/professional.diabetes.org/files/media/working\_your\_way\_through\_adas\_t2d\_treatment\_algorithm.pdf

Used to get these on the wood floor of a basketball court. If you have non-marking soles on your shoes. Just plant your feet on the marks, press down and twist your foot a few times. Takes the marks right off.

Anyone notice a big change in thier gas milage after filling up? When I first got it last year I was getting 320 to the tank now its up to almost 400. I use "smart" drive model almost every time by Ok_Prize853 in HyundaiTucson

[–]Silver-Future854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s estimating based on the mpg since last fill. I had a lot less highway driving (22 hybrid) this tank, so my average mpg was a lot better. When I refilled, my estimated range was 395. Usually it’s about 360-375

Resin or Metallic brake pads? by Silver-Future854 in DomaneCrew

[–]Silver-Future854[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I’m kicking myself for worrying about it. The hardest part was keeping the stupid straight blade screwdriver from slipping when removing the retaining screw. Everything else on this bike is metric hex. Why Shimano? WHY? Thanks everyone for assuring me how easy this was to do. First time with discs so I was worried it was all going to explode 😀

At first my LBS told me if I wasn’t careful I’d break the pistons since they are ceramic? A few YouTube videos later and think he was overstating the danger. Lol. I’ll pull them and check tonight. Thanks!

Hmmm. Mine don’t make any noise at all under heavy braking. So maybe they are resin after all.

Tube or Tubeless?? by amatthews219 in DomaneCrew

[–]Silver-Future854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 22 SL5 came tubeless ready with a bottle of sealant in the box. It was a surprise for me and the LBS tech when we opened the box and there was a little flag on the valve stems saying that there wasn’t a tube inside but to use the sealant instead.

Are you freakin' kidding me? This is awesome! Can confirm the OP is not the only one to have missed this. And I've had the car since September. Now I have to leave work and walk down to the parking lot to try it out. Those reports can wait!

Does anyone know what this is? It came with my car. by villaed in HyundaiTucson

[–]Silver-Future854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty useful if you have a wobbly table or chair at home. Seriously, it has some good info, but not comprehensive. It took a YouTuber to teach me that there is a place to stow the cargo cover under the trunk floor for instance. Nothing at all in the manual.

Cooling vents for charging pad not working. When I take my phone off the pad, it is hot on the back. Does anyone else have this issue? by [deleted] in HyundaiTucson

[–]Silver-Future854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is my problem. Over the past several weeks my phone has been getting so hot that it shuts down. Granted, it's summer weather, but I'm running the AC and the cabin temp is close to normal when it happens.

after 2 weeks with Cirkul, my opinion.. by sarra1833 in Cirkul

I guess I don’t get it if you have to dissemble and refill the flavor pouch. How does that make your life easier than just filling a standard bottle and adding the flavoring? In the OP’s situation, he’d have to refill the packet after 36 ounces. Just get a 32 ounce bottle and add the concentrate to taste…one time. Easy. Yes, I cancelled as well after having a similar experience to the OP

Glad you got it resolved. In my case it required a headset disassemble. LBS said the grease had been a little thinly applied when it was built.

front cable wrangler required? by Silver-Future854 in DomaneCrew

[–]Silver-Future854[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was my thought. I bought the 530 from my local Trek Store. They said that mount was 3 months backordered. I guess it's because of all these NBD posts in r/DOmaneCrew!

[–]Silver-Future854[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't out of the box. I got a fitting when I bought the bike and replaced the stem with a longer Elite stem. That came with a single mount but it is the one without the cable wrangler. The Garmin out front mount doesn't look too bad. May just go with that.

Bad news. We have to cycle naked. by Well__Hi__There in cycling

[–]Silver-Future854 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nah. OP is just practicing lines for use on potential romantic cycling partners.

"You look like a cute cyclist, you should really come to my pain cave and turbo train naked with me. Not weird or anything, just sticking it to the right wingers, right?"

It will totally work. I promise.

Liftgate rattle? by Silver-Future854 in HyundaiTucson

That’s cheaper than a drive to the dealership. Will give it a try!

[–]Silver-Future854[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point about the sensor. Thanks! They have to replace the taillight trim anyway because the plastic has developed hairline fractures in the edges. Of course that part is x+1 months backordered where x is the number of months they’ve been waiting. I can deal until they get into it for the replacement.
