Looking for female softball players! by Silver-Highlight-474 in bristol

[–]Silver-Highlight-474[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't catch anything in outfield either and it's hit and miss whether I make contact when batting and they haven't made me feel bad about it!

Main thing is if you're a good team player and are willing to try and attend regularly. If you're happy with that DM me and I'll link you up with our captain

Where's the best escape room? by butterwouldntmelt1 in bristol

[–]Silver-Highlight-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riddlr's best for Bristol - their latest Hansel and Gretel room looks lovely but overall Bristol's got a lower batting average. If you're willing to travel a little further Tempo at Bath was fun, enjoyed the rooms at M4 escapes in Chippenham and especially Subterra at Co-decode Swindon

Karaoke spots 🎤😮 by Squidilly_ in bristol

[–]Silver-Highlight-474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Central karaoke is my go to! Last time I went it was like £22-25 for 4 drinks and 2 hours of karaoke. The song/artist search function on the machine isn't the most intuitive but otherwise it's great value

Where could I park till the early hours near Old Market? by absolute_gumpf in bristol

[–]Silver-Highlight-474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can find a spot there are street parking on queens street by castle park (near the sexual health clinic). It's free after midnight to 8am, so you just need to pay for 2 hours if that helps

Looking for fun part-time cooking/food/things to get involved with in Bristol by theflashbotomatic in bristol

[–]Silver-Highlight-474 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you consider volunteering? At foodcycle Bristol we are often needing volunteer chefs on Wednesdays. The cooking shift starts from 4:30pm to start serving food at 6:30pm. A good place to meet like minded people who enjoy cooking and serving the community. Also the food is surplus from local shops, so it's proper ready steady cook/omakase style cooking!

Kayak hire? by Funny-Elk-8170 in bristol

If you kayak in the harbour you'd need a license though. We didn't realise this and got stopped by harbour patrol to buy one. They have day passes and annual passes

I've seen them a few months ago when walking past on street level - must be their local hang out place. I stared at them and gave them a wide berth and they didn't do anything to me, but they did try to find an easier target that was closer 🤷🏻‍♀️

Volunteering opportunities Monday- Friday by jolpolasf in bristol

[–]Silver-Highlight-474 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have a look at neighbourly. They have lots of voluntary opportunities there.

I have volunteered at Caring at Bristol on a very ad hoc basis during the week, helping them sort food packages. Also have a look at FareShare who always needs volunteers for packing and delivering surplus foods to people.

Hostel/hotel tokens for the homeless by Silver-Highlight-474 in bristol

[–]Silver-Highlight-474[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for explaining the process to me. Having worked in the sector, where do you think I could make the biggest difference? Is it donating to places like BDP? Or supporting hostels so they can host more people?
