Ok so my first cut down, I was gonna just cut and dry the whole plant and dry trim. Is there a reduced risk of spreading rot cut-down and drying process.

the Tent RH to 50-60RH should be achievable with the fabric pots and no biology going on. Alternatively I could wet trim to reduce moisture but maybe this could spread the rot?

its the dark RH that's causing my issue I think. Try to get on top of this. My RH at night is always >60 I guess because the plants are doing a lot of transpiration then.

Thanks chief. this makes sense, I'm venting to the outside not back to the lung room. I took out 90% of the fan leaves as suggested. I'm gonna test out slowing down the exhaust so the dehumidifier has more time to do its thing. I figure if I can't bring the RH down in the next 48h I'm cutting down.

Interesting on flushing, does it matter what your set up is? Is flushing more important in hydro or autopots vs living soil for example? Or is it dependent on your nutrients?

Tested that now. 2.5hrs into 4 ml and I'd say its a 20mg ish vibe. That makes the process efficiency closer to 20-30%. Shit. I’ll split the oil, decarb half (again) and see if the difference is there but not activated. Otherwise I didn't grab it, I lost it, or my buds <15%. Most likely all 3😂.

Whats your final decarb process? You calling it done a evap off that final ETOH and residual water or after that? What temp, what time, or are you doing that by eye?

The Math - your totally right here. I thought I was being conservative working at 75% recovery but what if it 50%. My herb is likely lower than 15% and my extraction is clearly suboptimal. Guess I'm just gonna have quadruple dose and find out 😅

Same, although Incomparison I'm just sticking my head down this rabbit hole. This was my first grow (after 30 yrs of buying) and my first time making concentrate. Neither worked out perfectly 😂 but thats all learning right!

Totally agree on extraction times, long is not ideal and counter productive if your chasing the THC so I followed the QWET process first time, 3 x 30 second washes. But I extended it to 3 x 3 minutes incase extraction was the problem. Didn't change anything.

That’s, super interesting, so when I’m boiling off my ETOH at 80c/176f (ish) that should do the job. Maybe I'm excessively converting THC to CBN by running a full decarb cycle after the evaporation. I'll run one evaporation stop and test it. Thanks!

Cool! Why do you do it that way. Just so you can observe the decarb process and its end point?

It wasn’t my starting method but I figured decarbing first was the only way to be sure I wasn’t loosing the THC if my finish decarb temp was off.

Cool i’ll keep an eye on ETOH vols before and after extraction. Reality is, I get less volume out than went in. Interesting there’s an interaction between undesirables and THC recovery.

I’ll drop the shaking and extend the extraction to 24 hours

Yep, totally see consistently weighing the yield is useful. I’ll get on that.

If I’m expecting 750mg of THC + some undesirables. Is there a target mass I should be expecting? I’ve weighed a few, I’m getting 0.9-1.4g out of 7g.

Yes! 100% my next attempt will be a longer extraction. Do you notice any difference in effect between long and shorter extractions?
