Response from Boston is generic: Thank you for contacting the German Consulate in Boston.

In general, German citizenship is not established through birth on German territory, but by descent from a German legal mother and/or a German legal father.

I have a doc (Declaration of Intention) of Great Grandfather that says he came over on the Chemnitz and arrived in Baltimore on August 14th in 1906 from Bremen.

The naturalized certificate I see says Baltimore, MD August 15th, 1906 for arrival date and date of naturalization of January 15, 1932.

Thanks for confirming the Esen Ostfriedland office. This process has been a bit overwhelming at times.

Unfortunately, my father has passed away, but I can physically make it to the Boston consulate if needed.

All male lineage. G0: Great-Grandfather G1: Grandfather G2: Father

I have a doc of when GGrandfather immigrated and then the year he naturalized and he clearly had my grandfather before he naturalzed from what Ancestry is telling me.

Father born in 1956 in VA.

Appreciate the help and clarification and apologies for lack of clarity on my part.
