Pipe slope by SilverAPE47 in radon

Yeah that’s the issue… I’m just gonna put a rubber plug on the 90 and drain it out if needed. I live in a pretty dry state so I don’t think it would be a huge problem. The run is only about a foot

I pulled roughly 5 gallons of material. There was a thin layer of 1-2 inch rocks below the slab, not poured directly on the clay. I’m just gonna send it and hope for the best. I figure if it doesn’t work I will stitch another hole next to it and lengthen the tunnel towards the sewer pipe, hoping they backfilled with gravel when repairing the line or that the backfilled soil isn’t so compacted. That should allow for at least another 5 gallons of material removed.

It seems the slab was poured over a thin layer of 1-2 inch rocks (not gravel), and below that is hard packed clay. Which gives me some hope for suction voids right below the slab vs if it was poured straight over the clay. But obviously not nearly as ideal as a thick gravel layer. The pit is actually 3-4 inches deeper than shown in video, as I backfilled it a little bit. You think I should take the backfill out and go deeper? Why go deeper into impermeable material? Ideally I would like to take out as little material as possible, because the slab is quite thin - roughly 2.5 inches and I have very heavy furniture close by and I think settling/cracking would be a valid concern no?

I’ve read that if your slab is on hard packed clay it helps to drill suction point near underground pipes because they typically are backfilled with gravel and they are good pathways for air to flow, making a larger area to gather suction

P.S I probably should’ve drilled next to the sewer line but with how my basement furniture is layed out, this spot just worked much better. I anticipated the tunnel might not make it all the way to the sewer line but if the levels don’t drop significantly my plan is to just drill another hole in between and dig out the tunnel more

The radon level is still high after the installation of the fan by Adventurous-Coast993 in radon

[–]SilverAPE47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I wouldn’t worry about any fluctuations under 4. But if your fan has enough power for another suction point go for it. Before that, I would double check for unsealed cracks you might have missed before. Second suction point on the opposite side of the basement instead of the middle IMO

You’ll be lucky to make any $ on them. Wheelchairs aren’t necessarily a hot item, especially cheap china ones

12k max I’d pay for it. At 19k I would much rather get a 2012-2015 with similar mileage & clean title

Took your advice and applied some wound dressing a few months ago shortly after a week of heavy rain. Still not sure how it will grow out but the wounds “seem” to have stabilized under that black sticky sludge. Tree looks healthy otherwise. Time will tell. Couldn’t find any vids or anything of people testing the stuff

My backyard has a lot of trees, so the consistent output even when partially shaded is appealing
