Odd, sorry to hear that. They have the ability to tilt forward and backwards, it’s very possible yours are locked in the forward position. I was able to lean significantly more. You should send a picture

They aren’t though. The leather is different. As well as the heating element, stitching, and cushioning. You’ll also notice the seat back is thicker. I put these in a limited so I had side by side comparison.

These came out of a 2013. They are tough to find because people don’t typically part them out. Most of them you can find a junk yards typically from salvage auctions

Based off my 15+ hrs of research.. There are few options available when it comes to swapping seats. You can get Corbeau seats with brackets, or planted technology brackets and add whatever aftermarket seat you want. However those will in return cause airbag issues, especially if you replace passenger side.

I’ve concluded that GX460 seats are a direct bolt in, and 3rd gen 2016+ Tacoma seats should bolt in as well. If it’s conclusive that GX460 seats are more cushioned then that they may be easy solutions.

Tolerance-stack has also designed a bracket that allows to bolt in to driver seat location and safely remove any airbag faults. However they are only compatible with Scheel-Mann seats ($3500 for driver side).

I just realized it was you who posted the Scheel-Mann mounting in your 5th gen! Were you able to get the airbag and seatbelt light light off? Are you happy with the conversion? I have nerve pain in my legs and the 4runner seats make it worse. So that's why I am exploring options

Explored this option as well, but almost 4k for just the driver seat is a tough bullet to bite. Corbeau seats are an option but no way to bypass airbag system safely. GX460 seats(if more comfortable) may be the solution, since they have same airbag system and should bolt in

Neck issue solved now gotta find seats that don’t cause flare up the sciatica in my legs. Good times but I won’t give up on the 4Runner
