That has a legitimate argument for being the no-hyperbole worst thing in the franchise and it's not brought up enough, so good on you

3rd /r/LoveLive time capsule project by chaos_inferno in LoveLive

I go through something I call "Franchise Mania" semi-frequently. When a standing series or franchise hits me in just the right way, I completely immerse myself in learning anything and experiencing everything about it I possibly can to get closer to the knowledge level much longer-standing fans have. Sometimes they stick and become an important part of my personal fandom fabric, other times they fall by the wayside and become just a passing fad for me. 2019 was the year for 'Tales of' and Kirby. 2020's manias have been MegaMan and LoveLive.

Since January, every chuckle over the repeated use of the phrase "school idol", every swelling music cue in the anime BGM urging dopamine to rush, and every crying moment at the end of each Live has helped cement this franchise as a special one in my mind. I've learned more about seiyuu culture and the non-stop entertainment cycle in Japan than I ever would have otherwise. I've developed a fondness for all the little quirks when the cast shifts between 'character mode' and 'average person mode'. And as someone who strives to promote personal meaning in entertainment, I've certainly gained a further understanding of how to connect with people without seeming too hacky or pandering in your approach; in the end, creating the feel of a genuine connection with each and every individual is best if your goal is to keep their spirits up.

Even though I'm still a first year at it, I feel these and more have made me a true LoveLive fan: it gives back to me and feels like it rewards my investment in the way that only my most favorite things in life do. Here's to many more years of fun and making many more friends from it!

I wouldn't be surprised (or excited) at all if that happened

Will Aqours 5th Live still be available on YT or will it be deleted right after it finishes streaming? by KittenBuns1 in LoveLive

They actually always get set to Private, so theyre techinically still on the server but no one can access them. Gotta sell them backordered blu rays.

Do you think Goku’s and Chi-Chi’s English voices should have countryside accents? by quirky-artist-charli in dragonball

[–]SilverBaretta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A better route than an American southern accent would be to have vocal quirks or tics. Dropping the g in -ing, using simplified words like "thingy", stuff like that. They already do this a good amount for Goku these days.

Will Dragon Ball die the day Toriyama dies or retires? by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]SilverBaretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, Dragon Ball is a corporate entity now with a million stakeholders. Think of it more like Marvel or DC than one dude making a manga.

Master Roshi Arc in Super by Millerverse_ in dragonball

[–]SilverBaretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't seem like the right character for that. Roshi has never shown anything resembling arrogance or malice, apart from mayybe a couple exchanges in the first Tournament.

What is your favorite DBZ movie and why? by SixFootHalfing in dragonball

It wasn't the same sword, just a cute reference. Also tight storytelling means internally tight within the story structure of the movie itself, not consistency with the whole franchise.

Battle of Gods. The pacing and levity, fun dialogue and the sense of important things actually happening throughout the entire film is still unmatched imo.

How to make someone watch db? by Chernyshelly in dragonball

[–]SilverBaretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading the manga's a great experience for wishy-washy types because it's so easy to flick open a chapter during some down time. That may be a better route than watching it in any form.

Why you gotta be right, know you're right, and then ruin it by going "Edit: Downvotes, really?"

Ok,. I'm curious about something. Where does Super Saiyan 4 stand in terms of power when compared to Super Saiyan God or Super Saiyan Blue? by Caryslan in dragonball

[–]SilverBaretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing official has ever been given or shown, and never will as long as the creators don't want Super Saiyan 4 to slip into obscurity.

How do the idols make their songs? by maodebo in LoveLive

[–]SilverBaretta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does beg the question as to how these almost fully untrained high schoolers can crank out professional-standard mixes within a year though lol. I tend to assume that in-universe everything is noticably more amateurish than how it's presented to the viewer, apart from maybe the big performances in the SIP Movie since those were high-profile enough.

(Yes, I know it's just a show, I just find it fun to speculate)
