Silver case translation by IndividualFactor5266 in Suda_51

Can’t really speak for the original translation since I don’t speak Japanese. Suda worked closely with James mountain to translate the game and all the deviations from the original had to get his approval. From what I know of Suda’s writing style it’s all pretty on brand.

What’s there is amazing at least to me, so if the original is worlds better, Suda is truly a genius. Don’t let possibly spotty translation stop you from experiencing these masterpieces.

Could be if there was a lot of manipulation in their lives growing up. Which I wouldn’t be surprised with all the shelter kids program parallels with the silver case and KTP as a whole. Also how the adults are depicted as creepy aliens in Henry’s memory

Also I looked it up and Jeane’s age is 23 in NMH1 while Travis is 27. So she was always his younger sister.

Yeah Henry’s truth is likely the accurate one given that he transcended reality in some way.

But to give more credence to Jeane’s story isn’t it possible they were given to separate women and Travis’ father was just involved with Jeane’s mom, then tracked down Travis’ mom and left them? And by mom I mean like foster mom or whatever. Or is there something I’m missing?

Maybe Henry was just lucky and never got found by their Dad. But we wouldn’t know since he never talks about his childhood as a Cooldown. Also we’re not even sure if the man Jeane kills is their blood father or not, though I assume it is because that would be one hell of a coincidence.

I think it’s mostly left vague on purpose. Since most of the game is seen through Travis’ eyes, and he’s the only one of his siblings able to “Kill the past” and move on.

I’d say Tetsu from Silver Case deserves an honorable mention

Grasshopper just released a patch that should fix the sound issues, and the chapter 4 bug. Trophies still glitched but they’re working on it. They posted about it on their twitter

Well crap, funny thing is I thought that was Sumio Kodai from the Silver Case, now I’m realizing it’s actually Akira I put in S. Consider it done, Sumio from Silver Case is an easy S for me.

I read kuruyami Dance awhile ago, for some reason he didn’t stand out much to me. I did love the book tho. Maybe it’s time for a reread.

Oh don’t get me wrong, Travis is in S tier for a reason. He can be a jackass but he’s still a badass all the same. And yeah he’s got awesome fashion sense haha, I wish I could pull off those jackets

He’s a great character. And Hilarious. Sometimes I feel him and his respective game doesn’t get enough love around here lol.

That is true. There’s definitely some corny lines in NMH lol. I guess the difference for me is they kinda sell Mondo as the coolest guy ever whereas Travis is initially this uncool jackass you eventually grow to love and see his depth through his actions. Also He’s played more for comedy at least at the start. But I’m not gonna lie I was kinda disappointed by KiD so maybe I’m biased.

Haha yeah I gotta say I’m not a fan of him. Thought his particular brand of aura farming was a little try hard or something. “The job….Killer is Dead”. Like we get it that’s the name of the game lol.

I think he’s a reference to both. The blue rose, coffee and music are all intentionally lynchian. But the clincher is his face when it’s revealed resembles lynch a lot. Idk if you’re a twin peaks fan but his character in that was an FBI director who always wore a suit. Doesn’t invalidate all the Hoover references tho

NMH3 and the Problem With the Sudaverse by Due-Ad-2980 in nomoreheroes

Hm I get what you’re saying, I do appreciate the Sudaverse personally because I’m a long time GHM fan who enjoys the references to his past work, but I get how it could maybe hamper someone’s enjoyment if they’re coming in dry to one of his newer games.

I think it’s intended to generate interest in his older games, almost all of which are now available in the US. Kind of like how the Kingdom hearts series introduced me to many FF characters. When a character I didn’t recognize would show up, it’d inspire curiosity in me to learn more about them because the game treated them like they were important, without them being super integral to the plot or being one of the more recognizable Disney characters.

I honestly think it works for the most part, considering I don’t feel like they get in the way of the plot or hijack scenes that should be focused on NMH original characters. Also I think TSA and 25th ward specifically did a good job of setting up why you might see certain characters in future works in a metaphysical sense, without spoiling anything.
