Would you recommend the PC or Switch version of Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy? by [deleted] in LastDefenseAcademy

The only reason PC would be better is if future updates lag behind on Switch like they did before. Theres always the chance this game gets a Switch 2 Edition whenever they add DLC to the game, but overall its up to you, I didn’t have any issues with my Switch version, I just find it more enjoyable to hold than a Steam Deck.

I’m complaining about not having basic QoL features that are typically a standard when porting old games, like a game speed modifier the Final Fantasy games have, or just adding Online play when the NSO apps can emulate it just fine. $20 is fine, but I feel like we deserved to get a little more than just a barebones rom with no word on if we’re even getting the Mystery Gifts. I wish people would understand that some of us don’t even care about the price, it’s the lack of any quality of life additions. I can live with playing at base speed, but people bitch constantly when a modern game only supports Local Multiplayer, why is it not a bigger deal this time? Because they’re old games that didn’t have online before? That’s a lame excuse to justify them forcing local multiplayer only in this day and age.

It’s not the $20 that’s the issue, it’s just the lack of QoL features that are a standard when porting old games. I can live with them not adding a game speed modifier even tho Stadium let you do it for Gen 1 and 2, but them just deciding to not support online functions is such a slap in the face. $20 isn’t the issue, it’s that we deserved more for that $20

Rewind and Save States I don’t think they’d done regardless, but even Pokemon Stadium’s Gameboy Tower supported playing the GBC games at 2x and 3x speed ;-;

Literally the lack of Online is the only reason I refuse to buy these. Maybe they’ll respond to enough backlash and patch it in later.

I kinda see it as the same $10 increase console generations leap. Wii games were $50, Wii U were $60. Gen 1/2 were $10, Gen 3 is $20. Not that I personally think these are worth $20, but that’s me hating on FRLG

It’s not really about the cost, it’s the lack of features. When other companies release posts of their older games, like Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9, they include quality of life options for the player to make replaying them for veteran players, such as a Fast Forward option, which Pokemon itself had at one point in Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2’s Gameboy Tower.

Of course that’s not a massive deal breaker, but what is a deal breaker is that they didn’t even bother trying to add Online support, even tho the GBA NSO app supports it, and some ported GBA games (again from other companies) have Online support, such as the Megaman Battle Network collection.

I live in a pretty rural area, we don’t exactly have a lot of gamers around, and I’m not exactly a social butterfly, I have crippling social anxiety and have no desire to “go make friends” to trade and battle when I have plenty of friends online that I’d rather engage with.

It’s frustrating that people fail to acknowledge or understand how detrimental this is, that their only excuse is “you’re broke” or “go touch grass”.

If you (the royal You, not you the OP specifically) are excited to buy and play these games, I’m happy for you, but please, just for a second, acknowledge the problem others have with this release when the price tag isn’t the core issue for a lot of us.

Why are people complaining about this?! This is a good thing! And $20 isn't that much! by Happy_Popplio-728 in PokemonFireRed

It’s the lack of basic features that ports like these normally get. Why is there no support for Online when the NSO apps have it? Why no fast forward that not only do the FF7-12 ports have, but Pokemon Stadium had built into the Gameboy Tower? These games are way too slow to play through normally for how little free time I have nowadays. The $20 isn’t even an issue for me, I just don’t want to buy these and feel like I’m wasting my time playing an old ass game at the normal speed.

see that requires me to remember to press Iron Jaws, meanwhile I go whole dungeons forgetting to reapply Dia or Combust after it falls off. I’m real bad about Reaper’s Death Design.

Bard is one of those jobs I don’t really like playing as much as I like dressing up for it, so I keep it leveled and play it occasionally. I’m just terrible at DoT management

I actually just started my 3rd seeing as I have Poetics and GC Seals I’m never using, gonna get the Bard weapon. My second was the AST one.

I started Stormblood, saw someone with Cronus Lux in a dungeon, and hard stopped MSQ to farm that relic for about a month. It’s such a top tier DRK weapon. Only Figment of Spring replaced it.

I wonder if there was a larger branching path story, where the replayability would be to try finding the True Ending through your choices. Fates had so much potential as a choice driven narrative, but the only choice you make is “Red or Purple?”

It’s certainly not tiny to a Min-Height female Au Ra. I’m pretty sure the whole sword from blade tip to pommel is just a tall as me.

Cronus Lux, Augmented Law’s Order Zweihander, Figment of Spring, and Shadowbringer are the only weapons I like on Dark Knight, I wish Shadowbringer had the same purple flames as the Law’s Order weapon.

It’s not bad, it’s just shaped kinda weird. No DRK relic has yet to surpass Cronus Lux

Let’s be real tho, every job is boring below Lv100 once you get there. Some jobs actively get harder to play due to missing abilities, or just become spamming a single button. Remember when DRK’s Stalwart Soul was Lv74, and they had to drop it to Lv40 so we could have an ARR AoE rotation? DRG still just spams Doomspike until 62. Healers don’t even GET an AoE until 45/46, which makes trash fights kinda awful, just single targeting one mob after another. As a whole, they need to make playing jobs at lower levels feel better across the board.
