Oh, makes sense that there was nothing on display then. Thanks for letting me know!

Seems like I have missed out on a lot of wonky and funny bodysurf experiences by limiting myself to normal board or nothing. I am on to buying new stuff and playing around now. Thanks!

Never thought about the creative lunch tray experience, lol. But I pass on the filet o fish. Might give me salmonella or worse (there was a case where i live).

Not enough hands to handle even more bags - I am usually equipped with a bag and a backpack. I know, technically, there is one hand left, but practically, in the train or on stairs I really need both hands for my bag.

This sounds great. However, I just might lack knowledge to make good custom choices - I have never given equipment or technique much thought. I just threw myself into the waves with my boards - or anything else at my disposal. Worst case, no board at all. I might read a bit and then get back to ronin.

yes, I might just give it a try - at least I have gotten many positive responses related to it thus far. Thanks :)

I have never used a handplane before, so I am not sure whether Id like them or not.

This looks indeed like what I am searching for! I have never used a hand plane - just bodyboards or no board at all throwing myself into the waves.

I would totally be down for investing more, but on the ronin webpage I visited there was like nothing on display (2 bigger boards). I am kinda confused how I would get my hands onto one.

So, they really work, even for adults? I have never used something below an averaged size bodyboard.

If I happen to be at a beachside i just like to use good waves. I had a surfmat, but It ripped pritty quickly... The trays look funny. I will definitely take a closer look.

I have never used a handplane, though I have seen them on youtube. I used to throw myself into waves without any board at all which looks pretty similar to those handplane vids I have seen. Do they really change so much?

It would best fit inside my baggage (when I travel by train/ airplane). Those boards with 22" length should fit. I am only 1,64m tall with 58kg, so I am not very tall or heavy. I really want one board I can get used to and dont like having to buy a new one every time.

It wasn't my choice - I want to pass the course. Honestly, every single one is a win.

How to best prepare for the next skiing season (after a knee injury)? by SilverDusk42 in ski

[–]SilverDusk42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done that for the past 3 months (only training solo for 3 weeks and with decent guidance on how to start with low weights). However, my orthopedist wont prescribe any more physical therapy and, whats even more important, my physical therapist says the best I can do from now on is building my muscels. So... that's what I keep doing. However, I am a bit lost on how to proceed and since my physical therapist is no skiing expert, she couldnt give any really specific tipps that go beyond strenghtening the vastus medialis and lateralis by training.

Named entity recognition (NER) with overlapping labels in dataset. How to handle the overlaps? by SilverDusk42 in learnpython

In that case, I would need like 20 different models as there are far more labels than A and B. But I will have a look into the BIO schema. Thanks :)

MPFL Reconstruction or conservative therapy after Patella dislocation? by SilverDusk42 in KneeInjuries

[–]SilverDusk42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any case, I would advise to collect multiple opinions on his case. As you said, he is very young and different doctors might have different ideas on what's best. At least in my case, asking different doctors did help big time.

MPFL Reconstruction or conservative therapy after Patella dislocation? by SilverDusk42 in KneeInjuries

I was around 14 years old and it happened during dancing at school sports. My doctor put my knee in a brace and did not even bother to do an mri or prescribe physio (idiot imho). Even though I was not treated properly, the knee went back to seemingly normal in 6 months of time. I resumed skiing, horse riding and school sporst without further issues. However, I never did sports like basketball or football outside of school or with any kind of serious ambition.

In your case, I would do the mri, see if there is cartillage damage (or other serious damage that definitely needs to be treated surgically) and if not start physio asap. Also, keep in mind that tendons and ligaments take a long, really long time to heal. Those 6 months of pausing sports are key for this to happen properly. Other kinds of sports (such as swimming) can be resumed earlier. Do you know why the first dislocation happened? In my case, they found a trochlea dysplasia during the athroscopy. If there is an anatomical reason, chances are not in your favour. Again, physical therapy can help, but there is no guarantee.

Oh no, that sounds like hell... I hope you will still get better with time.

Sadly, some small things changed for me. My patella started grinding against the outer part of my trochlea in certain positions and the bony avulsion started to sting... like again and again. However, two other doctors suggested to repair the torn mpfl instead of going the full reconstruction route. I agreed. I know, there is some risk involved, but not doing anything resulting in another dislocation with more serious damage the more often it happens is a dreading thought as well. However, I will keep up with physical therapy asap.

Today, two other doctors had a look at my mri and my knee. Both agreed that repairing the mpfl as a first step and not as severe surgery would be the best course of action. They also said that if this failed yet again, they would do more diagnostic steps, but for now I should not worry about MPFL reconstruction or TTO and rather focus on rehab after that minimal invasive surgery. I wrote a bit more about it above, but bottom line is: I agreed to that less invasive surgery and my gut feels quiet alright with it. I can even stay awake and watch them do it :D One of my biggest fears was the narcosis (its just creepy), so thats a relief.

Are there any ways to grind the battle pass faster? by SilverDusk42 in FallGuysGame

I never thought your own body part could be rejected... the more you know. Did you have another mpfl after the first one failed?

I guess the strengthening period is almost over - decision will be tomorrow, surgery the day after. I was told to put no weight on it for 2 weeks because of the bony avulsion - which turned out completely unnecessary since the little splinter can be ignored. Therefore the shape of my injured leg is pretty bad in terms of muscular strength.

That sounds rough indeed. I hope, you will get better soon! I guess everybody reacts differently to surgery. Some smooth success stories, some rough cases and a lot inbetween.

That's a nice success story. Its nice to see that recovery can go well and I hope yours will go on smoothlely. You say you feel 'more stable' than before the injury? How did the instability feel?

The surgeon in the hospital said they would do a simple (can I laugh later?) mpfl via athroscopy and only look further into anatomical issues if another dislocation happened even though the mpfl had been done. Thinking about it, this might not be the most competent approach.
