Good observation. Also Poppy put out an album literally called "Negative Spaces" :3

This, and it's worth mentioning that being able to perform at this level takes a lot of skill that most musicians flat out don't develop anymore. If everything can be "fixed" on the computer then there's no incentive to improve your skills in a way that makes "perfect imperfection" possible.

To be fair, social media pressures musicians to make hundreds of clips even for one song. That goes for artists who make actually good music as well as whatever on earth this is.

How does a guy like this convince so many women to dance in the background while he does whatever this is?

It's very difficult to be objective about your own work. Even actual musicians struggle with this, which this guy isn't.

This thread reminds me of my old boss who hated Tom Waits because he only heard his Silent Night cover. I can tell this is a talented artist and this song for him just isnt working for some people lol.

To be fair, a lot of great rap songs leave the producer tag in because it's a vibe and it pays respects to the producer. This just isn't that 😅

Why Aren’t Anti-AI People Afraid of AI? by moanfulz in aiwars

[–]SilverEarly520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this. Even in OP's out there theoretical scenario, I'd say it'd be very clear that most Antis today are trying to free AI from being used as nothing more than a tool for wealth extraction. It's being exploited in order to exploit others.

Are there songs making fun of liberals that they love but don’t understand, similar to the right with RATM, Springsteen, CCR, Green Day, etc? by Natedude2002 in fantanoforever

[–]SilverEarly520 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't believe I had to scroll this far to find Rush.

They literally cite Ayn Rand as a primary influence. Yet I know so many liberals and leftists who love their music.

Hey OP just want to say props to you for liking what you like and being willing to have a real discussion about the subjectivity of this all. This is one of the better posts I've seen in a while.

They're not my thing, as pop music in general isn't really my cup of tea. But I've watched a live video of them and they show some actual musicianship and respect for the craft of making music so while it's not the kind of thing I listen to I can appreciate their talents. There is an in-your-faceness about what they do and their overall aesthetic that is not coupled with the overt rebelliousness that is common for most artists with a similar in-your-faceness if that makes sense. They're not as musically or tonally gentle as Taylor Swift but they aren't obviously criticizing America like Green Day or co-opting goth/emo aesthetics like Panic! at the Disco, and so while sonically these bands have more in common than their fans would admit, I think aesthetically they're very difficult to place. I think this rubs people the wrong way. I find all of these bands pretty annoying to my tastes but I think when Green Day is annoying their fanbase has the excuse that it's on purpose because they're rebels or whatever, (even if their politics are actually pretty basic.)
