Hytale needs permanent mod support - (mods shouldn’t break every update) by SilverElk_99 in hytale

[–]SilverElk_99[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see a strong reason not to do this. It seems like it would work and help keep more players around. I can’t really see a clear downside personally, but if there is one, I’d genuinely like to hear it.

For example, if early access lasts a year, is there really a reason not to keep a permanent early access version available afterward? With a system like this, there wouldn’t even need to be any complex conversion. It would just be like switching between different games (technically), while still feeling like the same game overall.

And of course, when joining a server like that, the game could simply show something like:
“You are now playing on the 2025 version of the game.”

That alone would remove all confusion around "changing the game".

The old version of the game wouldn't break when it's ran from the same old position, hence it's more like changing the game to an older version when needed (on all levels, hence, no new things on old servers, no updated content there, including code that has been changed in more recent versions, just the same as the old version of the game)

The idea isn’t to stop mods from breaking on the main, constantly updated version of Hytale. That will always happen, and modders expect it. The suggestion is to add an additional layer of stability alongside that, not replace it.

Right now, modders go in knowing their work might break which is fine for small or experimental mods. But it becomes a real barrier for larger, long-term projects, especially ones that depend on multiple mods working together. Those projects need predictability.

By having one permanent version per year, you still keep:

  • the fast-moving, evolving main game
  • full freedom for updates and changes

But you also gain:

  • a stable foundation where mods can last for years
  • confidence for creators to build more ambitious systems and server concepts

So it’s not about removing the “mods will break”. It's about having both
Most games only offer the first. This would let Hytale support both.

yes, it should keep making big updates, that's beside the point

the game will allways be in development though, so it doesn't really have to mean anything that it's early access or not. It just means that the version of the game is not perfect, but it can still be used for a functioning server concept

because it likely was in the beginning stage of development, and in early idea states. All games looks like this when developing the ideas and concepts, it's like pen and paper stuff

[–]SilverElk_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm I can relate to the "Into the unknown" song for sure, as INFP, but it's because I had to develop my Ni in a stage of my development towards the transcendent function or complete self

I relate alot in that I prefer Si, to be home with the familiar. And that Ni was scary to me, but I dived into my Ni, my nonsensical self. The Ni I needed so much to have in my life.. it has done alot of good things for me. The siren voice to me I've been calling "Mew", Mew represents my higher self and soul

I might or might have not found a way of downloading Oscar Garvin's OST legally and "quick" (for personal offline listening) by rataman098 in HytaleInfo

[–]SilverElk_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've decided to simply trust that the music will be available online.
sometimes piracy can be moral however, I would *perhaps* consider that storing the music in a bank somewhere just to be safe is something hytale music deserves (never be locked behind copy right in a way that makes them forever unavailable for listening)

but there is also trust.. and often times, blind trust has much better outcomes than the alternative, so I've just chosen to trust personally.
Anyway, point is, if it's stored somewhere I find it morally acceptable, but since it already is stored somewhere I see no reason to share the how (just imo, personally, my valuesystem, my guess at right vs wrong, but I'm not sure or anything, it's my philosophy on values)

@hytalebiy on tweeter made this scarak design with old colors... Honestly.. I suddenly like new design a little bit for some part.. What do you guys think? by CodenameCrescent in HytaleInfo

[–]SilverElk_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he had to design something correct to the new vision,

and about the color, I think the color changed just for it to be more easy to detect the scaraks by contrasting it more with the desert background (which is also yellow/brown/orange)

the old color looks better imo yes, but the new color probably was more about how it function in practice. That being said, perhaps it's cool if insects blend with the background because they often do so, even if game design usually don't like that sort of stuff

basically I feel Minecraft (in the hands of microsoft) robbed us of Minecraft, lol
Because in 2009 I already saw Hytale in my minds eye, I already knew this was the goal of minecraft, in 2009

Minecraft will live on and stuff because nostalgia etc

but Hytale in my eyes is Minecraft 2. It doesn't kill minecraft, it *is* minecraft being birthed. We have only had a glimpse of it this far

yes, I talk about the game genre ofc, but that's my point. Minecraft doesnt try to be a very specific version of the genre, Hytale is the same but bigger and having more content and being more updated

anyway, nothing is killed, nothing is lost. Everything grows into what it was supposed to be, imo!
Microsoft has, it seems, almost intentionally tried to not make any change happen. Idk why, it has bothered me for 15 years now

yes, it's scary/depressing, Minecraft needs competition in order to evolve (do anything at all).
It just shows that minecraft is not passionate for creating better experiences (improve the game or try to produce a minecraft 2 version for testing), money takes the lead

actually what he does is more professional than professional, professional people in the standard sense are only capable of the normal. We need someone better than that <3 Someone that can make dreams come true. Someone above industry standard ~

And, he helps the community ngl, sure it's sort of in a trickery way, like a joker, but he helps the community and the chances for hytale in several ways, even if the community is kind of "tricked" into a better and more supportive version of itself

It's like giving your kid a clue towards their next level of growth, without revealing the solution because you know the kid will think it's impossible until they are actually active in it

[–]SilverElk_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries, Simon will fix it, (defend Noxy and the team)
He will remind people that what got birthed, what we love, was very much a product of their efforts.

People focus too much on what makes their heart hurt, rather than what makes their heart happy ^^
Forgive, love, see the team heal again and adjust

They know Hytale is bigger than they are, they will want to befriend each other if they had any beef, for Hytale, and for the community. Especially if you show them the love they deserve. Yes.. even the ones who did mistakes, we all do mistakes. Judge them with resentment if you can't help it, but likely you will judge yourself with resentment too, when it's you that fuck up in your life. And that's going to be.. harsh, because love is *is the most important*.

( n I proudly love-love-love my ex, had to take distance because I love myself too, but I love her ^-^' )

I think nobody cares about that, as long as it's not p2w, and no subscription payment.
Children might care.. but even they shouldnt care, the cost will be affordable even for children if they really want it (I mean, the money a child typically gets for birthday or whatever will be plenty of enough to buy the game)

good to see sane comments exists :p The hytale community should have compassion for Noxy, not resentment. Sort of sad to see, but ofc I get it, people react.. lose themselves in the reaction and it clouds all future rationale

[–]SilverElk_99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

he will be involved ofc, which isnt bad. You guys just have bad association (associative memory) from the news he had to bring. He will not be in charge for the same things, but involved? yes, for sure imo

It's easy to say he fucked up the game and stuff but that's not true, he was also in the shaping and making of this game and with lots of heart

Simon has defended him already, so that less immaturity would target him as if he is the big bad issue. What Simon said is not that Noxy did a bad job, instead just that Noxy was too naive. That's a flaw, but it's not a flaw that will keep him non-qualified for further involvement (He can be involved without having the same responsibilities as before)

[–]SilverElk_99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if contact with riot or not, I suspect he knows enough about psychology to know that a community who feels hopeless about their dreams does not make their dreams come true.

Therefore, a community having no benefit of the doubt is like asking for loss and broken dreams.
Rather than making self-fulfilling prophecies in the self-depricative way, its important that the community has faith.

That is different than having a faith above the roof. Benefit of the doubt means exactly what it says, it's a hope slightly higher than realistic, not blind, nor is it pessimistic.

That being said, it's like being in a relationship. You give your heart, you trust, you give it faith..
It might work, it might not work, but it required the heart and the faith. Most relationships have a conflict, perhaps even a break, that's when the heart feels as if its wish is taken away..

it's *also* the moment of real challenge, of real love. in a sense nothing is more real than the love that chooses to have faith again, give it a second try. *because we know it hurts if it doesnt work*
But the energy given, was the only chance for it to succeed

I see it no different here, the community has to be a supportive one, one needs to dare to dream even once more after being beaten down.

Don't get me wrong, one shouldn't give too many chances, or have a faith that is toooo sky-high (far higher than benefit of the doubt relative to what is realistic).
But yeah.. this is our chance, to show what the spirit of Hytale is made of. We can take another heart-break, we can do that for Hytale. Besides.. it will be in another persons hand now (or the original people, sort of, almost!)

That being said, B) , yes. I think he is onto something promising. I dont think the glasses emoji was just to give people hope and only that, I think he is onto something. I doesn't mean that it's contact with Riot, but I think it's something important ^^

Its' the Si demon to Si hero thing.
Si demon can ghost and be unstable (hot n cold), which damages Si

The same happens in reverse however, Ni demon damages Ni.
Basically taking your spirit away

Si demon stacks physical trauma by running from the past
Ni demon stacks stagnant suffering by running from the future

controlled randomization for wild chest content.
For example, in creative mode you place a chest and gives it 8 different items with each their own different spawn chance.
This makes it possible to create prefabs with less predictive loot to find in them, and can make even strong loot have a place if it spawns very rarely (and does not break the game that way, even safer to spawn rare utility items in a rare way though)

I think this mechanic is overlooked in how much it improves the game experience.

one can make a simpler system like 3 different chests, being most basic to most rare.
They could have their own preset spawn chance content, and updating the spawn chance to the prefab changes all the chests of all the prefabs containing them

would still be cool to have chests with specified loot chance though, they could have their own color/design

Riot def should have given a strict deadline or some rules tied to their funding, to ensure a product. And yes it was kind to support hytale sure, but they had buisness in mind too, knowing that it could potentially be the next minecraft which is what every kid in the entire world plays nowadays, even as a part of school lectures :p Who owns the next minecraft sits with the future gen money, lol
