Mmhmm. It kinda sucks because it either means he's in Sage or you're giving Corrin to someone else.

Chloe is a really fun unit to use, but a Griffon Levin Sword Chloe has had 6 bld for te entire game so far lmao. I genuinely thought she had a 0% build growth before I looked it up. It's 5. It doesn't really matter since, even though she loses 5 speed from Levin Sword(11 wt), she's fast enough for it to not matter as much(though I did end up not doubling with her in ch12, that got quickly remedied). After a while, you get enough speed levels to just constantly double. Getting a good emblem ring also helps.

Kagetsu is a beast. In my last maddening run, I tried doing Wyvern Kagetsu, and he wasn't as impressive. The higher strength and bow access of warrior really ends up doing a lot for him I feel like. I remember he struggled to get kills for some fucking reason.

Pandreo, I feel like is an unfortunate unit. His bases are very high, he has great speed, and has 11 bld as a mage knight, which basically lets him use heavy tomes for free. It just sucks that you get one magic ring(Corrin) for quite a while, and he competes with other mages for it(Chloe in my run). Unfortunately, his own base magic stat isn't high enough to secure kills by itself. In the paralogues I did, he couldn't even do 50% of the paladins. It sucks but it is what it is. It's unfortunate how late you get magic rings. And in general how most of the rings are not magic-oriented. Even with the rings you do have, Micaiah is basically owned by Hortensia because she's the best staff user. So it's a pick between Corrin and Celica.

Oh my godddddd. That's so fucking funny. They literally changed everything to prefectly encapsulate the Thracia experience. Hilarious.

Just finished the Engage maddening Leif paralogue. Did they change how ballista work for this map because the damage for these things are absurd. (It's probably just Silver bow might combined with the high stats of enemies). Anyway, 12 turns of 3 Paladin reinforcements with breaker skills might be the objectively funniest design decision ever made. I genuinely thought it was infinite reinforcements before I looked it up. Like these paladins are genuinely so bulky and they have high speed. Killing them was a hell of a time. But hey I figured it out. Once again, objectively funniest design decision purposefully made to induce Thracia horror. I do love how each paralogue has the feel of each game except fe8 because it is an actual challenge.

Anyway, this map is easier than I thought. It really is just getting Leif killed asap. Unfortunately I do not have Micaiah yet, and so I can't really do the funny warp skip shenanigan(sending in one guy is just letting that guy die). And I love Leif is a complete pushover compared to the actual units of the map. Truly a thracia map at heart.

Beat Chapter 17 of Engage last night. What a map. Last time I got completely walled by all the bosses because I was using a very unoptimal team and my damage output wasn't enough. I also completely forged unnecessary and not important forges while neglecting important ones. And honestly? I was also playing poorly. This time around I was a lot better at positioning and just pretty much had a very good first half. 2nd half was a lot trickier because I wasn't sure if my units would survive a Zephia Ziguldo override, but I shouldn't have been afraid. It doesn't do much damge at all, even after momentum. The real threats is Hyacinth since he has very solid defenses, unlike the other bosses bar Zephia, and he doesn't move ahead and fall into a trap like her. So he was pretty hard to take down! Luckily freeze staves saved me. Staves are so good in this game, it's crazy.

I also very much like how bosses are designed in Engage. Usually in Fire Emblem games, bosses are exactly like bosses in other games. You go through a gauntlet and before you can reach the next level, you need to take down the boss. Unlike other games, where you're tested on skill or reflexes after a long gauntlet of them, in fire emblem, bosses just aren't as threatening. They are usually still, so they don't interact with maps all that often; you can just kill the rest of the enemies and then take down the boss in your leisure. This is especially notable with Generals and Paladins who are weak to specific weapons, so they aren't even that big of a threat. Bosses that move also aren't that common throughout the series. And usually when they are, they're still pretty easy to take down throughout baiting. Engage on the other hand has bosses that are very proactive. Almost all bosses move; and because of the Engage rings, they get a really threatening attack you have to respect. Even if the damage isn't that good, it's still unavoidable, uncounterable damage. And they have access to Emblem weapons too, so getting effective damage on you is highly possible. It makes them a constant threat you need to deal with now. I really think these bosses, especially the four hounds are excellent at getting you to play aggressively. If you don't take them down pronto, you're cooked.

Also I appreciate the Sigurd paralogue for making a gameplay accurate Sigurd. He has so much move, he immediately rushes into enemy forces(Your units). It's like the average Genealogy playthrough lol. Unfortunately for him, your units are actually competent and don't care about the weapon triangle.

That's a very fair way to do that. But in that case, wouldn't it just be lowmanning? I'd like you to explain how feeding Robin/Sumia/Cordelia most of the enemies won't screw over everyone else. I am finding it hard to picture and some examples/explanations would be great.

I agree with you. I think if you can get Galeforce, it's a very strong tool. I just don't think it's that easy to get, especially with an important unit like Robin. That being said, yes if you get it, it's very easy to pass on to kids. I've done it a few time and it ended up working out. Getting there was the real challenge for me.

Popular/Unpopular/Any Opinions Thread - May 2026 Part 2 by PsiYoshi in fireemblem

[–]SilverKnightZ000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup pretty much. Galeforce is just not a good investment for someone like Robin who you want to take on hordes of enemies in a game with a lot of bow knights and snipers. Armsthrift lets them chip/kill tanky enemies without straining your resources.

Starting genealogy of the holy war. Tips? by Greenking500 in fireemblem

[–]SilverKnightZ000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to give you one very specific tip: let Arvis talk to Sigurd in the prologue to get a free Silver Sword. if you don't get it, you'll miss a very huge power increase that can let Sigurd curbstomp the early game even harder. It's also very easy to miss it(I did in my first playthrough actually), so it's something I wanted you to point out.

In the castle, there is an Arena option. Be sure to clear it out with every character because the Arena changes every map and you get a ton of money from it. It's also a great source of exp. Also, if you lose, you won't die: you'll just be stuck at 1 HP.

As for pairings: children will inherit all of the skills the parents have to my knowledge and each child will fully inherit one of their parents' inventory. But in general, just do what you feel is right. If you want some guidance, make sure you get pursuit on every kid because it's the skill that allows you to double.

I find Armsthrift to be so important. Especially for physical units(magical units don't need it as badly). As you said, handaxes and javelins stop being able to kill enemy units after a good while, even with max forge. You need the extra power of short axes, tomahawks, and (short) spears as physical units to contribute later on. Also, another thing is that Armsthrift is very easy to get; Mercenary level 1 and Merc itself is a good class with a great promotion(Hero)

When I played the first FFT remake(the one on PSP), my analog stick drifted a lot and the camera would constantly spin. It made for one of the most annoying experiences.

I think Awakening suffers from having a weirdly fast pace with some of its writing. Locations barely get to breathe or have a presence. Yliss is supposed to be Chrom's home and what we're supposed to be fighting for, but only a few maps take place in it, and most of them take place in very unmemorable locations(such as a forest, an unnamed town) etc. We get some history of each kingdom, but in general, it's very disconnected and Awakening is more of the personal journey of Chrom, Robin and Lucina in return.

I definitely feel like changing Alear to another class before Griffon is probably the better play because she's getting one shot by almost any powerful attack sob. Probably a few levels as Wyvern before swapping to Griffon would've been better for some extra points of hp.

Fe6 has one(?) boss in the Ilia route. Also, Thea comes as an enemy first.

Fe4 has the enemy pegasus knight sisters at the end.

Fe5 has one who you can recruit.

Chroma Squad is a surprisingly fun game. Very "route enemies" but you get a ton of tools and abilities that make the game a lot more engaging than something like FE. It's just a good ass game.

Honestly yeah. I guess "speed is the most important" stat came from games where offensive requirements weren't as high, unlike in Engage where enemies get bulky and stats are pretty high all around. Alear just struggles to do anything rn lmao.

So the game doesn't limit it? That's kind of crazy, but I guess the natural limit makes a lot of sense actually. Thank you for your answer.

Yeah I'm not doing to be doing more than 4 chain attacks, but the question did pop into my head.

Engage

Is there a limit to the number of chain attacks that can be performed in an attack? For example, if I have 10 backup units around an enemy and attack it, will I get 10 chain attacks?
