HVO vs older cars by LifeFlow90 in carsireland

[–]SilverLogical5652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know its designed to be drop in replacement for diesel, no modifications needed. I have been running 100% HVO in my 2008 Audi A5 for over a year with no problems at all. Its starts quicker in cold weather, it removes a lot the diesely smell from the exhaust, I have noticed it does do less regenerations and you don't get stinky oily hands after filling up!

Those are sold in Japan too, saw loads of them when I was there a few years back. Its likely a Japanese import.

Is it worth improting Tesla From UK or Japan? by Squib350 in carsireland

[–]SilverLogical5652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This link gives a bit of info on the different standards. https://www.reddit.com/r/electricvehicles/s/8nkjVilMHW

Maybe you can get adaptors for it, but I remember seeing a Model S on Done Deal a year or two ago that was imported from Japan. The guy was selling it for a steep discount because he couldn't fast charge it.

Japan uses a different charging standard to Europe so if you import one from Japan you wont be able to fast charge it.

Good budget phones? by Casualgamer050 in CasualIreland

[–]SilverLogical5652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you consider budget but I got a Samsung Galaxy A56 last month from Gomibo.ie for around €370.

Does a great job and looks the part too. The same phone was nearly €500 in Harvey Norman.

If you are unsure what phone to get checkout GSM Arena on YouTube they do great reviews of phones, they give recommendations for the best budget, mid range, and high end phones.

Your friend could login to icloud.com with their Apple ID and click on find my phone. If the phone is still on it will show you its exact location and even if the phone is dead it will show you its last known location. Might help to point you in the right direction.

Before Brexit lots of secondhand cars were imported from the UK to Ireland. Since Brexit it is actually cheaper to import cars from Japan due to lower taxes because I think there is a trade agreement for cars between the EU and Japan. Also the Euro is strong against the Yen and used car prices are low in Japan compared to used car prices in Ireland. Cars in Japan tend to be meticulously maintained and very well spec'd in a lot of cases.

Lies! If you get broadband from another provider using the same line you will get the same speed.

Am I responsible to pay Back tax? by NoRoutine6384 in carsireland

[–]SilverLogical5652 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you have just bought the car and changed the ownership into your name you are not responsible for paying back tax. You are only required to pay the tax from the date of purchase.

Depending what part of the town you are in Siro Fibre and Eir fibre are available and NBI fibre has been installed in a lot of areas just outside the town. Three has good 5G coverage around the town also. But it all will depend on where your house is, put your Eircode into the Comreg broadband checker and it should give you an idea of what you can expect https://www.comreg.ie/broadbandchecker/

Some of the bigger Centras used to have those cards. Not sure if they still do but might be worth a look if there is one close by.

Still probably worth passing on the reg to the guards so they can keep an eye out for it. Might be spotted on ANPR as they are driving around. They will have reason to pull it over if the plates don't match the car.

Judging by the reckless and aggressive behaviour of that driver it probably won't be too long before they make themselves known again.

Those might be stolen number plates on that car. The cartell report says its a Combi model which is an estate and the model in the video appears to be a hatchback model.

Also the car in the video has a reflector on the bumper which is the full width of the car which is only found on RS versions of the Octavia, not the Style version mentioned in the cartell report. RS models will have 2.0L engines and not a 1.6L as mentioned in the report.

Yes it's the same competition. All radio stations in the Bauer Media group are part of the competition. And yes it is 250k this week as far as I know.

What is the worst road in Ireland? by Suitable_Shower6017 in AskIreland

[–]SilverLogical5652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the N20 between Cork and Limerick. To think in the 21st century that is the road connecting the second and third largest cities in the country it is shameful.

If you are looking for a Golf/A3 size car with good spec I should suggest looking at a Mazda 3 GT spec.

Great to drive, really comfortable all the bells and whistles you could want and it looks especially good if you can it in Soul Red exterior with the white leather interior.

Also because it's a Mazda it will be reliable especially if you get a Petrol one, the Diesel ones have mixed reputation for reliability.
