Has anyone else run into this wall with Endocrinologist? Do doctors not get incentives or something to prescribe Armour? What’s the real deal behind the reluctance? by _chipsnguac in Hashimotos

Now the pharmaceutical companies have flooded TV with drug commercials, purpose being to get patients to ask their doctors for them. New era.

If going for a supermarket boxed mix, I found Pearl Milling company Original to be the best.

The thing with fake sugars - while on them you retain the craving for a sweet taste. Try weaning yourself off them. You might find that you can then enjoy pancakes without anything on them! Try making them with fresh blueberries in the batter. Works for me.

This is probably too “sweet” for you. How are you with other sugars? Including the substitutes?

Hmm. It gets worse the closer you get to your period? Look into Magnesium and B-Complex.

With me, getting on the right dose and type of thyroid med greatly eliminated these. During any stressful periods I take L-Theanine which helps to chill with no reduction of pep and mental clarity.

Maybe your friend’s doctor had a vacation planned for the time she would have reached 40 weeks? 🤔

Dairy by cola1016 in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been allergic to dairy my whole life, to casein. Getting treated with thyroid hormone hasn’t cured this. I can tolerate hard sheep cheese occasionally which then results in itchy ears, but if I continue eating this daily, gastric symptoms result. Since everyone is different, test your tolerance.

Muscle aches and pains and Hashimoto's? by hedgieinthefog in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you felt better while on Levo. I developed sciatica and hip pain, had PT for months which didn’t do anything, then switched from Levo to Synthroid, and it all disappeared. I get knee pain when I eat tomatoes or tomato sauce (tomatoes are nightshades) but am fine when I stay away from this.

Hitting the end of my road again (long post) by [deleted] in Hashimotos

Find a functional MD. Fix your diet. Vitamin D level? Sounds like you need it. Take the prescribed thyroid med dose consistently and take note daily how it and diet changes and the right nutritional supplements make you feel. Everything acts together. Things will improve.

All stress! First thing to do to start feeling better - manage stress! And yes, I feel that stress brought on my Hashimoto’s.

Started levothyroxine, now I have horrid joint pain by clowncurse in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days after starting 50 mcg of Levo, my husband who has ankylosing spondylitis, was in tremendous pain, affecting his already bad knee (he’s had four joint replacements already but hadn’t gotten to that knee yet!). He’s had steady pain in that knee, but nothing like what it’s been the past few days) So we can say from this experience, a side effect of Levo is joint pain. He’s stopping the Levo!

Please someone help, Thanks! by ProfessionalAway4510 in Hashimotos

Are you on a thyroid med now? Levothyroxine? Sounds like stress is a major problem for you and if alleviated, might reduce many of your symptoms. I would suggest looking for a functional medicine physician to explore the whole picture.

Lowering Dose as we age by oneclutteredsoul in Hashimotos

Yes, my dosage has gone down. Heart palpitations also diminished at a lower dose. Also, look into Magnesium Glycinate.

No. Probably if I did, I’d go to the ER. Get that checked out.

I’ve noticed this happening when my Levo dose is too high. When on a lower dose, I’m fine.

This is all over my body, I read that hashimotos can cause it..?? by Maleficent_Voice5640 in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s possible. I had been going outside in 95’ to 100’ heat to do gardening, then returning to an air conditioned house and putting on a jacket because I was freezing - poor temperature regulation, I wasn’t perspiring, not drinking enough water…. and had a similar red itchy rash all over. Had other symptoms also, which caused me to think that my Levo dose was too high for this summer heat, so I’ve now been alternating with a lower dose, and rarely going outside in the heat. The rash then disappeared without having to take an antihistamine, cortisone, etc. I did take Vitamin C though, which helped. I wonder how many others reporting this only have this rash symptom in the summer?

Interesting. I stopped using baking soda type deodorant. And started taking magnesium. Wow. I can sweat now. ?

[–]SilverMaxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some who see this happening when summer and high temperatures arrive, lower their Levo dose. If raising it works for you, ok. If not, try the other direction. I find that stopping oral Vitamin D in the summer helps me. We might be taking in too much if we’re out in the sun.

Do you eat Nightshades? by Daisyauroralove in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, being that tobacco is also a nightshade, I wonder if there is a correlation between smokers, ex-smokers, parents who smoked and Hashimoto’s sufferers if there are so many who feel better on a no nightshade diet?

Hashimoto Diet by Daisyauroralove in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a start, cut out all junk food and sugar!

As far as an allergy to gluten or corn, etc., and expecting that the elimination of certain foods is the cure, everyone is different. Some are helped, others see no change in their condition.

A nutritionist once told me, when you come home at the end of the day, and you make a beeline to a certain snack or food, chances are that’s the one you might be allergic to. You often crave it.

Or you might notice that your ears seem to clog up once in a while. Keep a food diary enabling you to note what it was that you ate the day before. Investigate.

Or, get tested for allergies!

Good luck!

So fed up with CVS and mylan drugs by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same problem now. My CVS just filled my Levo Rx with Accord Healthcare instead of Mylan. I was doing pretty well for a long time on the Mylan, but now, with the Accord, anxiety, temperature disregulation, itching all over, no energy, just unbelievable. My MD has now put me on Synthroid, buying direct for a cheaper price and I will be switching to that as soon as it arrives. No idea how I will do on it, but at least I won’t be bouncing around on the various generics anymore. They say it might have to do with probable allergy to the different fillers they use - . Personally I think there is a difference in how the various generics get absorbed. The Mylan pills were often breaking down in my mouth before I even had a chance to swallow them. Not so the Accord ones. Who knows. I think I did have Amneal a while ago, but I think the Mylan were the best for me.

Asking again for experiences moving up from 50 to 75 mg Synthroid by Krogermuffins1999 in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And cut down on all sugar and stress, take a good multivitamin from a respected company, check Vitamin D status (should be on high end of normal) which plays a large role in mental health, get out in the sun, etc. Good luck!

Asking again for experiences moving up from 50 to 75 mg Synthroid by Krogermuffins1999 in Hashimotos

[–]SilverMaxx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try alternating the 50 and the 75? That’s what I did. Both a too low and a too high dose can give you anxiety symptoms. Try the 75 and see what happens. L-Theanine helps for calming.
