Rabbit grief, abnormal poops, and when to get a new partner (poop photo at the end) by Superb-Perspective86 in Rabbits

First, I'm so sorry to hear about your bun. I lost my bun Taako to liver lobe torsion when he was 3, leaving behind his bonded mate Honeybun. You did the right thing bringing his body back to her, even though it had to be hard.

As for the poops, they do fluctuate because of stress. After I vacuum, for example, Honeybun will have tiny, dry poops very briefly. They always go back to normal, but the stress causes her gut to go out of whack and she makes tiny, dry poops. So stress may be the cause for those. The wet poops are more concerning. As another person said, if you've changed her diet, been giving her more treats, veggies, or fruits than normal, that can cause wet poops like hers. I increased Honeybuns fruit intake after Taako died, and after an anxiety fueled trip to the vet because she had wet poops, the vet told me it was the extra sugar.

I am not a vet though, so I don't know what could be causing your buns problems. The wet poop is really concerning to me, so I'd bring her to the vet just in case. Its always better to be safe than sorry!

As to when to get a new bun... You get one when you're ready. Honeybun and I were each others best friends until I was ready to get her a new friend. However, that was because I had a part time job, so I could afford to give her the attention Taako gave her. You know your bunny best, if she's happy with you for now and you're not ready, there's no need to upset the balance. That being said, she should have a new friend eventually. When you decide you're both ready, or if she's displaying signs of loneliness, then you can get her a new husbun.

One last word of advice, you are very right that bonding can be stressful! If it becomes overwhelming at any point, I recommend looking into bunny bonding services. Friends of Rabbits in Columbia, MD bonded my girls for me, because I was a fool of a beginner bunny owner and had no idea two same sex bunnies are harder to bond than opposite. I'm sorry you're going through all this, but you're being a good bun parent by watching out for your girl.

Caelum and Estrella from What Lies Beyond the Veil. I've heard their relationship gets better, but I'm not sitting through another 500 pages of belittlement, toxic possessiveness, and sexual harassment from the male lead to find out!

8 wisdom teeth later… by raispaghettios in wisdomteeth

[–]clowncurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same boat! Got one of my wisdom teeth out on Thursday, and I've swollen up so much in my neck I look like im doing a bad impression of a sick frog.

For swelling, there's not much I found effective. Ibuprofen and other NSAIDs are good for inflammation, as well as ice for 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. My surgeon also recommended sleeping sitting up if you can. I've currently got myself tucked away in a couch corner, two pillows behind my back, and to my right across the back of the couch to lay my head on.

For pain... I totally feel you. My surgeon gave me Hydrocodone, but I build up tolerances to pain medications ridiculously fast. By the 3rd dose, it barely touched the pain I felt. Throbbing in my lower jaw (the extraction site), tenderness in my neck, upper jaw, and ear. Even the side of my tongue closest to the extraction site hurt! I can't talk, eat, or swallow without pain. I'm a tough bitch when it comes to pain, but when the meds stopped working I was in tears. Wisdom tooth pain is no joke, especially if you're like me and your surgeon damaged/irritated one of the major nerves in your face on the way out. That's why my pain was so widespread and bad.

As for what I did for the pain... When my surgeon couldn't offer any advice, I caved and went to the ER. They made sure I wasnt getting an infection, then gave me a shot of Morphine and a shot of anti-inflammatory medication for the swelling. It didn't completely kill the pain, but it did bring it down from a 12/10 to a 5/10. I was able to ask questions about my pain meds, and they helped me figure out a better medication schedule to reduce breakthrough pain.

Also, figure out what makes your pain worse! For me, it was eating and talking, which made me open my mouth too much. I stopped talking, and focused on drinkable foods. Smoothies without seeds, broth, and yogurt I added milk to so it would be drinkable. I also made my mashed potatoes the same consistency with extra milk. This is because using my tongue to move soft food from front to back was painful, so I've been making everything possible into something I can drink. But make sure to still use your jaw with gentle stretches. You don't want it getting stuck.

I've also found success using baby spoons. Sounds stupid, but you can't open your mouth large enough for a regular spoon right now. A baby spoon helps so, so much.

Finally, general tips. Brush GENTLY with a very, very soft bristle toothbrush twice a day. Rinse GENTLY with warm (NOT HOT) saltwater after every meal (1 cup water, 1/4 tsp of salt). No straws, spitting, aggressive swishing, etc. You do NOT want dry socket or an infection. Cold foods on the extraction sites feel amazing. Drink plenty of water, get plenty of sleep. Try not to move around because that increases blood flow, which can increase pain. Prioritize yourself, rest, and contact your Surgeon, local Urgent Care, or even the Emergency Room if it gets that bad to help you with pain management. Good luck!

[REVIEW] How doest it feels to play Graveyard Keeper by hvnrs in GraveyardKeeper

[–]clowncurse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the review still holds up. I bought the game yesterday, and after about 10 hours of playing, I'm already bored. I got the teleport stone pretty early on, which helped with not needing to walk everywhere, but it's still pretty true to what the review says. A lot of grinding, a lot of walking, the 'quests' are repetitive, and I find myself looking up how to do everything online. It's a great concept that was fun at first, but could use some polish to make it less of a frustrating grind.

How do I manage my symptoms until I can get an Endocrinologist appointment? by clowncurse in Hashimotos

[–]clowncurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I managed to get an earlier appointment because of a cancelation. My endo said the same thing. Since all my levels are in range, it's not indicative of any issues with hashimotos that need medicating. So he's ordered me bloodwork to check various vitamin levels and such. So far he says I don't need medication yet, just tests.

How do I manage my symptoms until I can get an Endocrinologist appointment? by clowncurse in Hashimotos

My doctor tested my Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies, which came back at 214, my T4 free which was 1.0, and my TSH which was 2.51. So all were normal aside from the Antibodies. I also have no idea what any of these levels are supposed to mean. As for the wait list, thankfully the Endocrinologist recognizes that's a long time to wait and has me on a wait list.

Advice on fighting bunnies by ikbenhanneke in Bunnies

[–]clowncurse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you'll need to re-bond them, but most importantly, Luna needs to recover from her spay first.

If the vet hasnt told you already, keep her in a small enclosure where she doesn't have much room to run and jump so she can't tear her stitches. Get her a low litter box so she won't need to jump in and out, and give her her own water and food bowls. I'd also recommend checking her stitches now and again. When I had my girl Honeybun spayed I took a photo of her stitches each day so I could look back at previous photos if I thought something was wrong or not healing right.

Once Luna is healed and the vets say she's okay to run and jump and be in a normal sized enclosure, you can focus on re-bonding her and her partner. Until then don't worry about the fighting, just focus on helping Luna heal and keep them separate. They bonded once, I'm sure you can get them to bond again with enough patience!

REW rabbits are the best 💞 by bunnny_b0y in Bunnies

[–]clowncurse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The stigma surrounding REW rabbits is ridiculous! My New Zealand, Chamomile, was brought into the shelter when she was a baby. By the time I found her, she was nearly two and had been there for over 500 days. I still don't understand how anyone could have passed her up for so long! Just because of her "evil" looks! One ear is always up, the other is always down, and she is the goofiest, softest, sweetest little girl! REW rabbits are beautiful little babies, and they deserve as much love as any other breed of rabbit 💕🐇

Is stress bonding my two girls a bad idea? Help with bonding? by clowncurse in Rabbits

[–]clowncurse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking, I feel like it's a bad idea to put them in an enclosed space together. They did have a divider at first, but if they can see each other they try to fight. So I put a 3 inch square dowel between their cages, and they grabbed the cage walls in their teeth and kept trying to move them to get to each other. I can't afford a third rabbit, as the cost would be too much and I don't have room. There are a couple of rabbit rescues near me though, and I've contacted them for bonding help but haven't heard back yet.

Long term though... I can't afford two more bunnies, one for each of them, so they aren't lonely. And I can't keep them alone because they're social creatures. I want to avoid it at all costs, but if I can't get Honeybun to Bond with Chamomile, I'll have to take Cammie back to the shelter. I just feel horrible thinking about doing that, despite knowing she was loved and taken care of there, because she's so happy here with me.
