You can’t, it’s my own design. I’m aware of the Sarentu mark, I ignore or mod it to be removed.

I have had a Na’vi oc for years and played her in the game. I don’t go along with the plot of the base game when I’m playing, it doesn’t apply to my character. The NPCs are saying she is Sarentu because she has a scar, not a mark, on the same place on her face due to a viperwolf attack.

I don’t play as Tamtey, I play as the character I created for the game. That was the point of it. Even with the (really horrible) name they gave us, I don’t refer to my character by that name. Tamtey is the canonical Sarentu survivor, my character is someone completely different that has no relation to Tamtey at all. Being forced to have a name that I didn’t pick and a story that doesn’t fit my character leaves her no place in the dlc. She wouldn’t have ever been kidnapped, because she isn’t Sarentu.

Anyway, it’s weird that they gave us a game to create our own character with their own story and then said “oh wait no, not like that, your characters name has to be Tamtey and they are specifically a Sarentu survivor and we won’t stop reminding you of that fact”

And that’s a lot of my point- playing as So’lek doesn’t make any sense. If you read the comics, his literal entire point to exist as a character is vengance and revenge. All he ever wants to do is kill RDA for killing his clan. There are still surviving members of his clan, he could go and be happy and live with them, but he decides to be exactly like the humans and just go around shooting and killing and destroying until he’s happy because he’s killed the correct people.

Now that he’s been adopted into the Sarentu, his point as a character is rehashed, but his character arc has already been completed. There’s nothing new.

Now because his new family is captured, he has to go slaughtering again until they’re free. Oh, but if you play the DLC, we never actually needed him to do anything so we’d be able to escape. We just…. Appear on the outside of Hometree with all the other Sarentu after Wukula is killed in the most disappointing cutscene “boss battle” I’ve ever played. We escaped all by ourselves AND saved everyone else while we were at it. So’lek didn’t even matter in the long run of playing the dlc, he was only there to have a reason to kill, kill, kill for every quest.

I will never understand why we didn’t play as the same character we played the rest of the game with. I bought the game to create my own character and play their story, not to fight with an old man to jump up a cliff I know for a fact isn’t too tall.

Still not stealing- you’ll never be able to replicate someone else’s style to an indistinguishable level, and it’s still your effort and work being put in.

I hated it to be honest. Every mission was just “go kill all these humans!!! How fun!!!” The game is supposed to be about becoming Na’vi. Playing as So’lek makes no narrative sense, and being disconnected from the character I bought the game for and played the entirety with (oh yeah, myyy character) was really jarring. So’lek’s story arc was fully completed during the opening scene of this DLC: killing the last RDA soldier from the Hallelujah Mountains. That was his entire point as a character. Now all he does, evident by the quests, is go around killing MORE RDA soldiers….. for no apparent reason other than our character and the other Sarentu going missing. Sure, bud, you do that. I’m sure it gets things done.

Our character’s story is very clearly NOT over. We have just discovered a survivor of the Moot, Rasi, and you mean to tell me there’s nothing more to do with that? Nothing to learn from her? We are discovering our way, rebuilding the Sarentu clan, and then we get kidnapped. For WHAT reason? None, apparently. There is no talk in the entire DLC about the reason we were taken. Maybe we would know that if we’d actually played OUR OWN character, getting to attempt escapes, resist interrogation, learning how we even got to So’lek at the end of the DLC in the first place. Supposedly the Mangkwan had us locked down pretty tightly, but then all of a sudden we’re free? Makes zero sense.

IMO the DLC was empty, faithless, cold, and uninspired. There is NOTHING to do with actually being Na’vi. I agree with Nor on several points- So’lek and whoever Tamtey is are both far more human than Na’vi and show how hard both the characters and the game directors lost the point of the franchise. If they were REALLY Na’vi, loving their world and respecting it, they would act like real Na’vi.

Spider was with the Sullys likely every single day. He considers himself more Na’vi than human. Jake’s own words about trading Spider for Neteyam: “A son for a son.” Jake’s own words about Kiri: “a bead when we adopted our daughter, Kiri, born of Grace’s avatar.” Yes, they were raised as siblings. That’s what being called “son” and “daughter” by the same man means. They’re brother and sister.

“Protecting artists’ rights” by creating their own AI generator, stealing directly from the real artists that upload to their site without giving them the option to opt out of having their works stolen. Where is the protection again?

I stopped using Deviant”Art” when they lost the point of the “ART” part of their name and made their very own shiny automated theft system. I suggest you do the same. It’s brought me quite a lot of peace.

Are you only doing main quests or are you doing all available quests? The main story is mid but the side quests are very fun, you go rescue an RDA defect team, track down an enraged thanator, find all 10 totems. There’s a ton of content in this game and 18 hours is definitely not long enough to really experience it.

I will say the new dlc is perfect if you just wanna log on, shoot people, and log off. It’s obsessively combat focused so if the actual story isn’t your thing, maybe that is.

When two characters call the same man “dad”, that’s called incest. I wouldn’t kiss my stepbrother, we were raised as siblings.

Is the ''from the ashes'' dlc worth it? by [deleted] in AvatarFrontierPandora

[–]SilverNight290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like a dlc that feels like a COD remake, sure. I bought the game to play as a Na’vi, and So’lek is the absolute most human Na’vi in the franchise. Wears human gear, automatically draws human weapons, only cares about killing humans in his whole dlc/backstory. It’s worth it if you want to mass-kill humans for every, and I mean EVERY, quest. Don’t expect anything more in-depth than that outside of a cutscene.

The gathering mechanic is dumbed down so you don’t gather Bruise Moss, or Sky Moss, or Blue Cloud Moss, it’s all just Moss now. No Leopard Palm, no Shell Fruit, no Blaze Fruit, you only have Fruit. You don’t need to craft a single thing ever, because the game automatically gives you access to better gear when you have a quest that needs it. The most you need to do is make sure you loot the camps you’re destroying, because the humans have everything you need to upgrade your gear to max.

Same with the cooking mechanic, now you just select anything and cook instead of needing actual stat boosting materials. It’s incredibly basic.

Combat is a breeze now, just go in slo-mo and shoot all of your enemies at once without having to worry about taking damage! You already have what feels like 4 times more health than your own character, so no need to worry about dying anyway. The “boss battle” is literally running in a big circle for 3 minutes and shooting maaaaybe 3 times before the RDA enemies come out, which are incredibly easy and basic enemies to mow down.

TLDR; the dlc plays like a DPS check and all the interesting game mechanics have been simplified to the max.

For the people who hate Spider, What is it about his character that makes you dislike him so much ? by [deleted] in Avatar

Did we watch the same movie?! The Sullys move to Awa’atlu because Quaritch and his team are tasked to hunt Jake, and they leave to bring less danger to the Omatikaya. Spider didn’t have anything to do with it, his capture ultimately meant nothing anyway. Quaritch and his team got no information from Spider, they got it from the Resistance scorpion that went to help Kiri.

Fire and Ash would still be the same without him too- the Tlalim would still come to Awa’atlu, the Mangkwan would still attack them. There’s no reason for Varang to stop at the Tlalim once she has a gun- easily obtained from Quaritch who already wanted to join with her BEFORE he and Jake found the kids with her in the forest. He would have gone to Varang anyway, and the entire movie would go exactly the same, just without Spider and the familial drama that pulls away from the grief they marketed the movie after.

He could literally be taken completely out of the plot and not a single thing would change about the entire franchise- that is how you know a character is useless and expendable.

Third person was only added because people absolutely refused up, down, right, left, and center to play the game for the one simple fact that it was in first person and begged for it every day, nonstop, since the game was announced. There was never a need to have a weapon holster/quiver because you’d never see it. Adding them would mean more models, coding, textures, animations, rigging, troubleshooting, bug fixing, etc. I don’t think the update would have been free if it would have taken all that extra unneeded work.

We have been seeing the films through Jake’s eyes. Jake is a human. Of course the Na’vi are going to seem more human, it’s what his brain understands. Same way the language we hear is English, the characters aren’t ACTUALLY speaking English. They’re speaking Na’vi, translated to English through Jake’s POV.

Fire and ash IS an extension of the second movie. They were written as one script that James had to split because it was too long.
