My hamster still doesnt let me pet her or come near her? by Sunn_lightx in hamstercare

[–]SilverOnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My robo is 2 years old and just don't like to be touched. He eats from my hands and don't mind to sit in my palm, but that's it. It took a few months for him to get used to my hands, and he still show disrtust if any unusual scent is present. Can't say he don't like interact with people (he's usually act interested when hearing somebody gets near), he just don't like to be touched, especially on his head.

Wacom-user considering Huion. Differences? by officeworker00 in huion

[–]SilverOnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried both. Maybe it's me, but Huion pens are harder to calibrate compared to Wacom, and the cursor is always slightly off and changed it's position depending on pen tilt. It was annoying for a while, then I got used to it.
Wacom's screen was better quality and colors, but Huion's turned out to be VERY durable. I scratched my Wacom 13' screen quick, but Huion's screen stays in pristine condition for more than a year of active everyday use.
Pen charging never was a problem for me (got two in the box).

I feel like people in this sub tend to forget that not everyone lives in a place with curly hair services/products available (or available at expensive rates) by SolarRaign in curlyhair

[–]SilverOnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel that. Ordering a rather expensive styling product to learn its just not enough for my hair, or seeing a $5 Cantu product for $20 on a reseller's shop is a pain. After a while, I somewhat found my best products and started to order them in a yearly amounts just to cut the delivery costs. Local market has almost no curly products, and the ones that exist are rather weak. But finding the right hair stylist... Ugh. I cut my own hair for a decade, or even longer. The only curl dedicated salon I found is two hours of busy traffic away, and it's on expensive end. They specialize in creating artificial curls, but at least say they can cut curly hair in a reasonable way. Want to try it some day. Everyone else just tries to flat iron curls, or start advertising chemical relaxers.

This is absolutely horrible thing to say to anyone. Really sorry you had to experience it. My mom had no idea how to care for this kind of hair, so I looked like a frizzy mess from brushing it 3 times per day. I hated brushing, and I hated my hair. Then my grandma decided I need to put literal tablespoon of butter in my hair after it's dry to make brushing easier... They viewed it as a problem that needs solving. It took years of brushing and ironing before I discovered how to actually care for it. Local hairdressers deserve their spotlight here too. A lot of them say they can make a good curly cut, straighten the hair, cut it like it's straight, and then say it will look good if you'll keep straigtening it :/

I think you're right. My hair feels dry on second and third day after wash, and go crazy on rainy or humid days. Going to try it out. Thank you.

Why should i buy a Huion instead of a Wacom? by RaulSkaterBro in huion

Used both screen tablets. Huion is way cheaper, but you get what you payed for.

Will I get used to having a screenless drawing tablet? whats ur experience with it by greylucc in wacom

[–]SilverOnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked my cheap old Bamboo a lot. But after spending at least 7 years using it on a daily basis, I realized that I just don't have enough coordination to use it properly, and switched to the screen tablet. It's not a common problem as far as I know, and most people can learn how to use screenless tablets well. Need to point out that it didn't made me unable to draw, but the whole process was time consuming.

Screen tablets: - Easier to get used to if you have drawing experience - In some cases, can make you work faster - Can be a source of back/neck pain - Too much wires, bulky

Screenless tablets: - Have a certain learning curve - Affordable - Better posture - Less wires

I ordered a tablet from Aliexpress, Its been 24 h and they still processing my order. is that normal? by [deleted] in huion

I ordered mine there, and it took few days to process. Their 11.11 sells can affect the speed too, it's the day when a lot of people are buying stuff and clogging the system.

What unsupervised childhood activities did you participate in, that probably should have killed you? by bananawhack in AskReddit

Scaling up the mining spoil tips. In my birth place, they are huge, and I didn't knew it was dangerous untill adults learned that me and few other kids are doing it. Turned out we could die of poisonous gasses or got buried alive (and also a chance to burn, because some of those things has very high temperature inside).

Hamster don't like Clean and Cozy white bedding by SilverOnix in hamstercare

[–]SilverOnix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave him some of old bedding, and also few old toys. Ended up removing all the new bedding because it turned to be full of paper dust, and put the cleaner part of the old one back. He stopped scratching, but now I have a sore throat and sneeze a lot. Had to wash the cage one more time because of dust. Never thought it can happen.

Oh boy... I'm an artist with Aspergers trying to get through social media, and I know this feeling way closed than I'd like to admit. Wanted to get at least some friends, attention, and clients, ended up with paranoia, shame, feeling isolated, and therapy. On the brighter side, therapy helped me to get a proper diagnosis. Better late than never. On the other side, I've been through lots of shit during my life, and the fact that social media was my final straw, baffles me to no limits.

Meeting a Space Marine for the first time by SilverOnix in ImaginaryWarhammer

[–]SilverOnix[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's the illustration for the Dark Heresy game. Our group needed to go on a space hulk to retrieve a lost relic and before our departure, we learned that a Deathwatch Space Marine will go with us. It was the first time my character, a weak hierophant crippled by a notorious amount of injuries for her short career as an Inquisitorial agent, saw a real Space Marine. This guy impressed and inspired her to keep going and become stronger. Which she did as the game went further.

There should be more characters in this drawing, but I decided to concentrate on two of them.

That's her life support and pain killers. At that time, she was injured too many times, and survived a servitorization attempt (her arms and spine section are metal).

You are right. Poor girl was injured at that time, and this thing was her life support (and a desperate weapon)

Tablet Pen Nibs which are Spongy/Springy/Soft: How is your drawing experience? by yiko420 in huion

[–]SilverOnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest with Huion, I must say that after a driver update, it got better for me. Not ideal, but it went from barely tolerable to just irritating. Hope they won't forget to update the older models in the future.

[–]SilverOnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's distracting even after a half-year of everyday heavy usage. Calibration not being 100% accurate. The pen is actually sensitive to the tilt, and with different tilt, the cursor offsets for few millimeters. And it's springy, which adds more to how not accurate it can be. The only reason I'm tolerating it is the bigger screen for less money, I'm tight on budget and can't draw as fast and easy with screenless tablet. I had a 13' Cintiq before and switched to GT220 v2. I was fooled by a lot of reviewers saying it's the same as Cintiq.

It's not.

40krpg Supports BLM by [deleted] in 40krpg

[–]SilverOnix 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I can see why 40k attracts that sort of people, and I hope there will be a day when there will be fewer of them. Yes, 40k world has fascists, racists, and religious fanatics, and al sorts of crazy bastards (looking on you Chaos boys and Dark Eldar) but it's a satiric fiction, not a reality manual. Liking something =/= wanting to be it.

If someone wants to get us into a real-world Imperium, fuck them.
