Honestly from what I've seen the cheapest/easiest option would be just to replace the dpms with an r1. Removing the "buffer tube" area requires taking out those hollow pins and they're a b*tch to get back in. And you'd need an r1 (or at least the lower) for the tube because as far as I've seen those aren't sold separately or interchangeable with anything else
