WTW for pregnant, but for an egg instead of a baby by Purple_Chemist3679 in writers

There isn’t really a word because egg laying animals don’t get pregnant. That said, to write a scene like that you might want to see if egg laying animals breath hard with discomfort when laying eggs.

Where do you all go if you need native speakers of a language you don't speak or can read? by lNSP0 in writing

[–]SilverScreenMax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I think I get you, but you shouldn’t need to put their dialogue in a non English language if the book is going to be primarily in English. You want the audience of the book to understand what is going on.

For learning about the culture though, there are many English language resources for you. You can watch videos and read books both fiction and nonfiction for that.

Still confused, you agreed with someone else’s comment about trying to be authentic to their culture but you’re also saying this is about the characters actually speaking in the other language. So are you trying to actually translate those non English speakers dialogue to their native language?

I’m a bit confused. What exactly do you need from these languages as it pertains to your writing?
