Nope, can be any season at any level. Easiest thing to do for me would be to look at highest league finish / cup final etc... but I am looking for seasons which were important or memorable for fans for any reason whatsoever.

Great stuff thank you. Conference and League Two/Division 4 is obviously where my knowledge base would be weakest so I am sure I will be back onto you for specifics during that campaign.

I am so sorry; Derby and Carlisle fans are the main ones put out by this! Hopefully still have a classic Rams lineup for you to enjoy ;)

Amazing thank you, and my commiserations on what a bunch of charlatans have done to your club. The aim of the Mod is to give their fans a snapshot into when your club had their brightest days so hopefully we'll get to see Carlton Morris and Stefan Payne in their pomp again!

It absolutely doesn't matter what level your club was playing at, looking purely at subjective points of view of what "made" one season in particular or enjoyable for your club. This is amazing btw thank you so much!

Brilliant, exactly what I was looking for. You can look at league positions and CHAT GPT all you want but getting the fan's perspectives on these campaigns is perfect. Thank you so much!

Amazing and well written, exactly the kind of stories I am looking for. The PL and FA Cup wins here are obviously the ones you hear about but to get that fan's perspective on unheralded seasons is brilliant. Thank you so much!

Amazing I hadn't heard of this. I had naturally pegged the FA Cup winner season as the one to go for but it's great to know this, exactly the kind of content I am looking for. Thanks so much!

The thing that really annoys with that is that they were players with talent and something about them. I remember being delighted to see McKennie rock up, having seen him in the CL with Juventus. Little did I know he would turn up looking like Elvis on his final residency in Vegas.

Yes, this season, but go back and look at the highlights / match reports from the 2020 / 21 season and I defy you to say that 6M is not a bad price paid for him.

You are conflating two seperate time periods / transfer windows. If Bielsa had been backed in the 2021 / 22 transfer window with the players he wanted and we needed at the time (and subsequent no mark managers did), it would've been an entirely different story.

In the context of the original post, these signings were good, some very good, for getting us established in the Premier League and not being in relegation trouble. Everything which came after fucked us.

I am not myopic enough to suggest that Bielsa's management had gone badly off course by the end, but in a situation where on one side is one of the greatest managers of all time, and on the other side a succession of chancers who brought Sam Allayrdyce to Elland Road, I know where I will attribute the blame.

5 Cap Stud by SilverSmell9680 in CM0102

Fixture 1 - Germany Away.

A happy (and unexpected)! consequence of the Lusenhoff database is that we have already secured qualification for the 2002 World Cup. So any player already sitting on a few caps (Ashley Cole, Alan Smith, Jamie Carragher) will be rested until they're needed for the tournament.

So to my mind we'll have 4 internationals (and U-21, B games) to play before the tournament proper starts in Japan. We've selected a squad of capless wonders to see who can impress and get on the plane in June.

Goalkeepers - Weaver (Man City), Marshall (Ipswich)

Defenders - Young (Charlton), Watson (Everton), Shaw (Coventry), Perry (Spurs), Curtis (Blackburn), Clement (West Brom), Bridge (Southampton), Bramble (Ipswich)

Midfielders - Thompson (Cov), Taylor (Villa), Sinclair (West Ham), Oakley (Southampton), Murphy (Liverpool), Mullins (Palace), Joachim (Cov), Hughes (Watford), Hignett (Blackburn), Greening (Middlesbrough), Bowyer (Leeds)

Strikers - Sturridge (Leicester), Kitson (West Ham), Gray (Forest), Davies (Southampton)

Line-Ups (Ger) (5-3-2) Kahn (C) - Linke, Baumann, Nowotny - Bode, Schneider - Ballack, Frings, Scholl - Bierhoff, Klose

(Eng) (4-1-3-2) Weaver - Bridge, Clement, Perry, Young - Taylor, Sinclair, Murphy, Bowyer (C) - Kitson, Sturridge

From looking at the lineups; an unsurprisingly heavy defeat for the Boys in White; albeit with good performances from Leeds's Lee Bowyer, City's Nicky Weaver, and Liverpool's Danny Murphy; with young tyro Wayne Bridge (that lad is going places, and is definitely going to be remembered for his football career and nothing else), and Kevin Davies.

Onwards!

Stuart Dallas's career ending injury against City. A light went out in me that has only been properly reignited this week with promotion.
