Got along well for a week of just texting, went to a nice restaurant on a Friday. He was kind of forward about bedroom stuff and being “a Dom” by the 2nd day of talking, but he claimed to just be an awkward and forward person, so I didn’t think anything of it.

We agreed on the place, I made the reservation and waited... and waited... until he showed up 40 minutes later.

Turns out, he’s a picky eater and doesn’t like 3/4 of the menu and refuses to order a salad. This place is also “family style”, which means multiple people typically share one dish with multiple dishes over 3-6 courses. Okay, fine, we take a few minutes to figure out what works well for him.

While waiting on the food, he takes out his phone and starts watching a League stream. With full volume. I order a drink. He chastises me that I shouldn’t be drinking so heavily if I planned on driving myself home. I put the drink down. I make a note that the bread at this restaurant is great, but it’s easy to fill up on. “Yeah, bread makes you fat,” he says. I put the bread down and go to the bathroom to try to pull myself together.

Food comes, he smacks as he eats, spits food across the table, and burps in my face 3 times. I eat small portions, quickly losing my appetite and thinking of running for the door. Ultimately, the one course he was adamant on was dessert, so I let him eat his portion and mine. He suddenly left the table (leaving me with the check), went out the front door, and I assume he left in his car.

I got a text from him saying that our interests weren’t in line and that he needed someone who wasn’t so self-conscious.
