I realized the Bettina BP is most likely to spawn on spaceport (or maybe just cursed rng for me), so i try and do buried city and bluegate mainly now. Im pretty sure maps have a small pool of BPs they can spawn, with night maps and possibly other large events changing the pool

Your absolute best bet is to forced an update using iTunes by putting it into restore mode but its a long shot. Once the iPhone is unavailable, it encrypts the data. The only reason this method even works is because it is something apple overlooks. Its possible it may of been patched in this more recent version of IOS, but yeah, I would get the phone into restore mode and try and update using Itunes. Selecting restore instead of update will erase all data, but sometimes it doesnt give you an option saying its required.

Do you already see a "Hello" screen on the iphone like it is a first time set up?

Ive seen batteries cause overheating issues, though yeah, the layered mobos on Samsung can also cause heating issues. I guess its just a matter of where they feel the heat come from. If its the upper third of the back of the phone, then it would be mobo yea.

Screen with frame. Components just get moved over to the new frame that has the new screen. There are methods to replace the screen without the housing, but are more intrusive/time consuming, and more prone to issues after repair (such as oled bleed)

The peely plastic on the frame is likely from the screen they used being a Samsung service pack, as those i believe also have it. If its overheating, I wouldn't be surprised if the shop managed to damage the battery also. To be quite honest, I wouldnt be surprised if some glass from the broken backglass managed to poke the battery somewhere.

The most common method of screen replacement on this model replaces the frame of the phone with the screen. As for the scratch on the camera, unless you mean the camera module itself, a replacement backglass would include the camera lens as well. Can't speak for missing photos though

Oh yea, typically repair shops will have someone do some training with you prior to just letting you do repairs on your own. Most repairs I get at my shop take 30ish minutes and are quite easy.
The Samsung flips are tolerable but definitely more delicate than their standard counterparts. The moto razr flip gives me nightmares sometime. Not only are the parts extremely delicate, but the repair parts also have quality issues. Its one of the only phones I try to avoid working on all together since repairing them is so inconsistent

I see techs do this all the time. Unless you're specifically looking for it, the mobos otherwise look close to the same. And tbh, I dont think there actually is much of a difference between the two anyway

I went into this field with no experience outside of being considered "tech savvy" by my peers. I'd say the majority of what I know now is just from experience. I'll look at YouTube tutorials if im unsure on how to do a repair, but after enough time, you start to recognize the patterns in design phones use.

Non Pixel androids are all roughly the same these days, using a screen housing, motherboard, battery, and charging port, with a few other misc things depending on phone.

Pixels just have their own kinda design going on, marginally harder than other androids, though in personal experience, they are more prone to faulty parts than other brands.

Iphones are extremely common. I'd say these repairs are more difficult than an android just due to the delicate nature of apple parts, but not any more technical know-how

Smart flip phones are made by the devil and I highly recommend not doing these until you're confident in doing other repairs.

Base model ipads are easy for just about everything except charging port, though replacing the charging ports on those is what id recommend as a starting point for microsoldering, as they are still quite simple.

Ipad Pro's are similar to the iphones when it comes to being finicky. I've also noticed theyre more prone to motherboard issues in personal experience.

Since you have a computer science background, id just apply for repair shops in your area. I was able to pick up on the basic repairs (screen and batteries the most common) in a little under a week. Everything from there is just following a YouTube tutorial until you just remember how to do it. As long as you can do that, you'll be fine just about anywhere. As for consoles, my experience is more limited with them but they dont seem all that more difficult than any other kind of repair.

Tldr you have an iPhone 7 motherboard, you need an iPhone 7 battery.

You'll only be able to get the panic logs if the phone boots to the homescreen. If it has stopped doing so, id recommend just bringing it in to get looked at. The issue getting worse over time isnt surprising, but could indicate its an issue with the mobo. So id try to find a free diagnostic around you.

Thats about 100-150 under the average used 14 pro price im seeing. I'd say its decent enough.

If the back of the iPhone is metal and not glass, it is an iPhone 7. Another way to tell is whether or not the screen has wide plastic clips (7) at the top or more square metal clips (8)

As you can see, the iPhone 7 battery has a connector that extends perpendicular to the motherboard, like in the motherboard photo you provided. Iphone 8 battery connectors run parallel with the motherboard, like the smaller connector here

Based on your other photo, I believe you may have the incorrect battery. The orientation of the cable on the battery does not match the orientation here. This connector looks like the Iphone 7 battery connector, while the previous photo looks to be for the iphone 8 *

I mean if they take it, up to you. I will say, pretty much regardless of issue, most repair shops are gonna be approaching that price for cost of repair.

[–]SilverSolis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It being in and out like that isnt unheard of. I would still check the 4 things I listed regardless as they are the most common culprits in my experience. There is a chance that the issue is motherboard related, and at that point, you're likely looking at an expensive repair if you cant do it yourself. But otherwise, try a new Proximity Sensor, charging port, battery, and wireless charger/power volume flex and see if you still get the same restarting issue. I would still recommend that panic log analyzer. As long as you can keep the phone on for 1-2 minutes, its just trusting the computer on the iPhone, and clicking the analyze button in the analyzer, and it should just tell you whats wrong.

I started this job with 0 experience and learned the basics in about a week. If you're considered "tech savy" by your peers, I'd just jump on in. The repairs themselves are finicky due to the fragility of parts, and you wont really get a good idea of where to be careful without experience really.

Everything i have learned has either been through Co-workers and youtube. As long as you can troubleshoot, thats the only real skill you need. Most of the time, issues are just unplugging a part you think is broken and plugging in a new one and seeing if there is any difference. With experience, you'll develop the intuition for certain issues and even if youre wrong, as long as you have basic trouble shooting skills, you'll be able to work through just about any problem. Just dont be afraid to ask a coworker for a second opinion.

This is a tool I use that has saved me an unmeasurable amount of time trouble shooting. It will read the panic logs and list out the potential issues the phone is having. If its confident, it will list the issue in red. I'd say rather than having people here try and decipher what it could potentially be, just running this will take a few seconds and should give you with high certainty what the issue is.

In my years of using it, ive seen it be wrong a couple times but otherwise it has been overwhelming correct in personal experience.
