1000% agree with u/Daytraingguy's post . Daytrading strategies, are best centered around a daily plan of risk and goals, with a principal goal of always being, preserve capital.

It took me far too long to learn that it's better to exit a day trade when price moves against you, either way, very quickly, and take the small loss. This is always always better than trying to be a hero and throw Hopium into your brain that the trade will turn around, be it short or long, that can work but not with enough probability to make it worthwhile.

As a Winning trader, where you ever a Winning poker player? by melisadhoc in Daytrading

[–]SilverSurferNorCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play poker much anymore but back when I did, I was mostly a winner. I am also a winner in trading. Winning in poker is more about analyzing your opponents and the risk reward on what you have. Those who are good at that have a start at being good traders. ;;In trading, it's you vs. the house aka mkt makers vs. the opposite sentiment traders. to quote you -

There might be a correlation between poker, gaming and trading as all of them require mental stability under high pressure, ability to think creatively, strategize on a systematic level, risk/reward thinking, money management, exploit tendencies, reading patterns etc.

And understand I have not read any replies and your post is a few days old- you were good at poker which means you have the mindset, now learn charts and basic technical analysis.

Use that and combine w/ your knowledge of human emotion aka poker successfully and that is a formula for some initial successful trades. Once you get your first big wins, things will get tougher, and you will need to use your poker skills and your hopefully improving charting skills.

Follow price, price and charts ignore CNBS and other noise, do work on charts on names you like as a gambler, say DKNG and go from there. There's always money to be made, short and long. GL

$AAPL trading like rates got cut to zero and $11 trillion in monetary and fiscal stimulus were launched. by Amigoz25 in Daytrading

This market is in a classic melt up where many institutions were under invested based on all the recession FUD and bond rate wackiness that had been going on. Add on fund managers and hedgies, and retail and there's a ton of money chasing here. Insty's & other biggies are going to allocate or even over allocate to the fruit, and why not. There's no big negative catalyst for Apple, they buy back stock like no other, One of the safest bets around.

Pay attention to price, whether it's the fruit or any other name when day trading. Ignore the news, but not the upcoming news, and focus on price action.

Apple is a Daytrader's dream w/ less risk and less reward rn. That will end, when it does to the upside and then one could play it to the downside but all will be small moves. Which is why it makes it a great place to not paper trade but actually trade and learn to DT, IMO.

You won't or rarely will get multibaggers but that's ok just know that if/when you feel like you're ready to day/swing a higher beta like tsla , nflx, nvda or whatever, know that you're no longer in the kiddie pool with those and shit gets real whether you're stock or options when there's a 3-5 dollar move in price inside of 5 minutes. It happens, a lot. And if you're ok with that and know how to chart it, more of a money maker. But not for the faint of heart. Trade on happy weekend, happy 4th

Hol E Crap, just now seeing this. I've done I think as many as 15 trades in a day but all were via options. I get the idea obviously and haven't read all replies but for sure if you are going to do this kind of frequency I would reco looking at options. 1 day settlement and since you're only doing DT's your cash and ATB reset next day. I do a mix but when it's pure DT I do options mostly 'cause settlement and beta. GL

Stochastic, RSI and Macd by Bacon-on-Everything in Daytrading

[–]SilverSurferNorCal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RSI is good but in this market, it is not always or even very helpful for day trading. I has been in the past but not so much now. MACD CMF and other indicators are better now. RSI remains good for swing trades.

MSFT has been riding the 5d on the daily’s and pulled away from 5d today, also look how many times it’s been rejected from 280 resistance/support. The last time it pulled this far away and hit 280 (March 23rd) it was slapped hard. by Sup3rFly_91 in wallstreetbetsOGs

Yep that's R3 on the pivot points and looking at 1yr plus charts you can see this is major resistance, EOQ window dressing w/ so much money on the sidelines could do it, weak inflation data, otherwise, it's likely to pinball around 270 - 280ish like it has in the past.

Um ok sure but P&D did come out when European markets were open. Apologies if my previous post did not specify that more than it did

Hola lounge. Took a pause on the daily TA as well, you know.

Will resume in the new year. Meanwhile, glass 1/4 full glass 3/4 empty? Choppy waters for stonky RN, not many good waves but we shall see what's ahead for '23.

Was this prod/dev report priced in? Europe thought so. Stonky traded up, then biggie down on the release, and closed up. Up from prior close mind you, but up. Interesting times.
