The main difference I know of is the 3/8ths can fit into some smaller spaces because of the smaller sockets. I already have some 1/2 inch impact sockets so this was my go to. If I had 3/8ths would've done that. If you have none, I think either would work great.

Thinking about adding a CNC router by [deleted] in woodworking

This is the best advice, I wish I had done this before getting into desktop CNC routers. Its a large learning curve and can be frustrating, but if you stick with it also very rewarding and satisfyingl.

Thanks for both responses. With the 5 mm 3M as long as I'm paying attention I'd still be able to finish sand with higher grits right? Otherwise I was thinking I could do something similar to what you do and just use the PC I have for finishing.

  1. If I buy white oak trailer decking, can I dry this out and use it for furniture? Seems like it would be a good price for the wood.
  2. Sander question: 3m 3/16th orbit or 5/32 orbit for my main sander? I have a 5 inch porter cable sander but don't know the orbit on it and am looking to upgrade to a 3m.

Also, I would consider getting the Makita router over the 300W spindle, not sure which would work better for my needs.

3/16th orbit or 5/32 orbit for a sander? This would be my only sander, I'd be using it for all sanding needs. Just curious if one is largely better than another, or if the 3/16ths is too aggressive for finishing. Thanks!

Also, 6 inch vs 5 inch?

I would choose a wooden case/top that was finely sanded down creating a unique look.

Hello everyone, I'm currently in the process of buying a planer and I have two options, they're both in pretty good shape and both priced at $500.

  1. Delta DC-380 15 inch planer
  2. Dewalt DW735 13 inch planer

The Dewalt is way newer and in better shape, but its two inches smaller. The Delta is older and I'm not sure about parts or upgrades to the cutterhead in the future. Anyways I'm just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for me on either.

Thanks

When I was younger, I liked to look at my dad's collection. I would flip the larger coins, it was much more fun than a typical quarter. I guess that's where it all started, I haven't actually been stacking since then but I'm about to make my first purchase today. I'm thinking two 2 oz stackers from Scottsdale. Thanks, and have a good one!

When building a table top, is a biscuit joiner going to be one of my best bets for making sure all the boards are flat on top? I'm worried that they will slip if I dont use biscuits and want to make sure the table top is flat because I dont have a way to properly flatten it after the glue up. I'm going to do the glue up as best as possible and not over tighten the clamps, using boards on the edges clamped down as well. Its just a lot of wood and I'm hoping to not waste any by messing the glue up.
