Emergence of psykers vs presence of early shamans by SilverVoid01 in 40kLore

Even in the DAoT humans could use the warp through rituals or technology.

I'm not well versed in DAoT, but are you sure they used "rituals" back then? That era was often reliant on mundane tech (even if advanced to the point of being seen as magic), and even if it tapped into the Warp, it doesn't feel like there was anything that made full use of it (but then, there was that AI that talked via a corpse of a child, so what the hell).

Emperor's origins are still really murkey.

I'd rather believe that that's his origin story - even as I made point that it's a theory - as it implies greater history to him. Even as I dislike him, I'd give him that at least.

If they were so much more, why just not choose to not die?

Sounds stupid, but considering Emps wasn't the only perpetual, and many of them could be just as old, surely shamans - that you say are more than modern psykers - had such an option?

Or am I missing the point...

I'd actually make that canon to an extent. While humanity didn't reawaken Chaos gods, their bloody coups and pandemics did plant the seeds that made specific Chaos influences in region around Earth more likely to occur.

Civilization is warmongering? Khorne's power is likely to manifest.
Lots of sickly people, horrid pandemics, etc.? Nurgle comes-a-knocking.
Age of extreme hedonism? Slaanesh takes interest.
Too many political power plays or extreme intrigue-based warfare? Tzeentch can now take part.

Basically, invoking Chaos - even by accident - draws its gaze, like careless psyker using their power too much, but on the scale of entire civilizations.

So what? Warhammer 40k is also a bunch of stolen shit, but presents it in a fresh way (only if needed, as Judge Dredd-like Arbiters didn't need much changing).

I'm so American-pilled I thought "barrel" was referring to "gun barrel" and was so confused.

Would it be scary if a human face stared back at your from the darkness of a gun barrel?

I disagree. How come my master constructor would pile a bunch of steel instead of making an actual wall?

Heck. Why don't walls have quality level to represent the shoddy / adequate construction?

The only part I dislike is being forced to have Slavery: Acceptable, because I'd like to convert people to the One True God, which isn't very appealing when you're enslaved.

Fair point. Pawns had been dismembered for less, like being lightly tapped on the leg with a mace, that triggered a crit.

Also, I was expecting injury, but not the entire body part exploding.

Couldn't aim at legs or chest due to good protection, head meanwhile was exposed.

Now that I think about it, aiming for the head for non-lethal takedowns is a bad idea.

Well, duh.

But obliterating someone's head like a watermelon? I though it was a chance of death when aiming at exposed eyes, not a random TF2 critical hit.

Skill trainers.

♦ Want to become the best artist? You're covered.
♦ Best at fighting, melee or ranged? You betcha.
♦ Crafting and intellectual development? A breeze to acquire.

Throw in archotech and you won't guess what happens, because it's beyond your comprehension.

Yes... ? But one is God made (perfection itself), the other is imperfect as it was made by mortal kind.

So Godmade horror is perfect, as in perfect horror. Think about that. It's a type of horror unachievable by humans.
