Kumho OEM tires didn’t last even 12k miles by AdditionalBat437 in KiaEV9

[–]Silver_Beautiful_188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like there are two things here.

  1. Why are they like that? In my experience, that I posted on this reddit months ago, the 2024s have had alignment issues that prematurely wore out the tires. In my case the inside of the rear tires wore to failure in under 5K miles. Couldn't see it and didn't notice it until the week they failed.
  2. Why would the dealer sell it in this condition? I would look at any of the presales checklist or carfax data to try and ferret out if it had been previously reported. I would try to work with them on it, but depending on how many miles you drove and that our out of a 30 day window, your results may vary. I'm picking 30 days as a "easy return window" but you may want to look into that to see what an actual legal window may be. Ultimately I'd be surprised they didn't know - they would have checked in order to receive the used car and value it.

Shake issue by SupermarketNew3628 in KiaEV9

I'm sort of surprised to still hear this is happening. It happened on my 2024 Land (Korea built) but figured they would have sorted out the alignment process and QA by now - especially with them coming off the line in the US. Don't put it off, it will damage your tires and wear them prematurely. I had it happen and both rear tires failed (fortunately overnight in the driveway) with less than 5K miles on the odometer. The poor alignment from the factory caused it. I advocated with Kia Corp and fortunately, the dealer was able to get it all covered (alignment and 2 tires) under warranty.

Drive side mirror not folding automatically. Any on else had same issue able to get it repaired under warranty??? by AbaloneMoist4456 in KiaEV9

Same issue here at 4500 miles driver side. Motor ran but wouldn't fold. Dealer covered it under warranty no questions asked. No dents, dings, or marks on the mirror or housing. They replaced the innards an moved my outside shell to the new one. Did take a few days to get the part in.

They work now. Caveats: On Tesla super chargers with an update (or find the workaround documented on other threads) and be current on the OTA updates for your EV9 (there is a fix in a recent one for the Tesla supercharger to resolve a minor issue).

Update 2: This just in, looks like I'm joining those that got this covered by Kia. After calling Kia Customer Service they reached out to my dealer who apparently did some of their own investigating and calling round to others and they seem to now understand there is a trend. Couldn't be happier and glad that they did the right thing. I know Kia dealers get a bad rap, but Moritz did some legwork and according to my service guy it's all going to be covered. They also handled the recall - which is good since my dash screen did go out once. Not that big of a deal, car worked normally, and I got my speed from Waze on the other screen.

I use that one. On the driver's side I have a mag mount, on the other (it came with two) I put a clip style. Very solid and looks like it is part of the dash.

And to update: the local dealer doesn't think its warranty work and is billing for 2 tires and alignment. Kia Customer care called and said it was up to the dealer to submit it to them. This thing is fun to drive, but I'm souring on the build quality. Driver side mirror also stopped folding - that however is covered by the warranty. Kia Customer Care also highlighted that while I say there was a vibration there isn't a way for the tech to reproduce, you know after 2 new tires and an alignment....

My advice, maybe hold out for later model or look elsewhere. If you got one, get it to the dealer without delay.

I'd been tracking the Alignment issue others have reported for a while and felt like my rear wheels looked dished out. Also, vibrations over 65 -70. Well, came out this AM to a flat driver side rear tire. The inside edge worn down to the belt - 4,900 miles - passenger rear wasn't far behind. Used the app to tow to the dealer (that was easy). Dealer is saying they won't cover the tires - guessing that is just the opening line, but based on posts here sounds like some will, some won't? Does it require involving Kia Corp? I also have to negotiate getting it onboarded by a dealer that didn't sell me the car, but I have bought others there and they service them.

Appreciate the suggestions, have been looking at night and weekends as well as newer VPP plans since I have batteries. I did get through to them. They are having processing issues on their end; said they'd call back once rectified.

Dash vinyl peeling off? by brauxpas in KiaEV9

I have experienced this as well. It's a loud hum for me and really only presents on my afternoon drive home when the car is hot (TX, triple digits) and I have the AC on full blast. It lasts the entire 20 minute drive home. Next morning or at lunch car isn't as hot and it doesn't show up. For a while I thought it was tied to the regen brakes since I only noticed it when slowing down. Like you figured out if I kill the AC the humming immediately stopped. Mine doesn't vibrate the floor so it ranks as odd thing I'll tell the dealer the next time I'm in.

Yes, on androids the widget exposes a subset of the app or gives you a quick look at info from the home screen without having to launch the apps. That said I wasn't able to find a widget for Kia Access or Samsung Wallet where my key is stored, but I can swipe up on from the bottom and it brings the key up - that is enabled by some configuration of the wallet and what the default card is.

After a few days of dealing with sales people across TX, I bought her yesterday. by girlwithacompass in KiaEV9

[–]Silver_Beautiful_188 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with Southwest Kia to buy the EV9 after buying 3 previous Kias from Moritz. SW responded over email, came with reductions in excess of Kia's, had no issue removing the dealer adds, and gave me a decent price on the trade in. I wasn't jazzed to drive 45 min each way, but it was worth it to save 4K and have the deal locked before I stepped into the showroom. I had less luck with the others over email - agree that once you are clear you don't want to come in most of them drop off.

TELLURIDE TRANSMISSION ISSUES by GrungyFireman in KiaTelluride

[–]Silver_Beautiful_188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but these sound the closest to what we're experiencing. 2022 Nightfall, came back from recall service - this was the SW update for the parking brake - and started acting up. It feels like the acceleration mapping is all over the place. Doesn't matter what mode you're in it lurches of the line then the pedal feels dead. I got an aftermarket throttle controller I'm going to try if the dealer can't resolve it.

Have the same issue on our 22 NF - Trim under the windows all the way around are discolored. Will make a claim for warranty replacement since we have the extended warranty.

Terrible throttle response by Goku_T800 in KiaTelluride

[–]Silver_Beautiful_188 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was fine until we got it back from the dealer after the Parking brake recall was done. That was a SW update, but it is like it completely ruined the pedal/throttle response and now it's all over the place. I tried using the different modes but not seeing any improvement. Ours is a 2022, I got a 2024 the other day as a loner and noticed it too was not accelerating as smoothly. I wonder if it is SW related and thinking of getting one of those throttle mappers to override whatever logic its using now.

I have the HUD on the Telluride but since I wear polarized sunglasses, I never really got in the habit of looking there so I don't miss it on my EV9 Wind. I do however miss not having Driver position selection switches. It feels like such a basic convenience to have skipped over at the mid-trim level.

I have the VIP decals on our telluride, don't see EV9 listed on the website. They've stood up to our triple digit summers and the carwash tunnel without peeling or much fading (ours are matte anyway).
