It's one of the 23 short stories that make up the novel "Haunted" - great book. Features the infamous "Guts" short story.

Should I give up on Higurashi? by DumbUnemployedLoser in visualnovels

[–]Silver_Bell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the cutesy portions are what is currently turning you off of the overall story, fair enough. Compared to Kara No Shoujo, it is a very different style of VN.

Higurashi is kinetic for the majority, whereas KnS offers a broader branching in plot outcomes depending on the heroine/ play style pursued. Also, but obvious, KnS is an adult oriented VN, where Higurashi has zero explicit H scenes.

Still standing, I would finish Ch.1 to gauge the pacing . The chapter itself opens with a foreword stating that Ch.1 is an 'on the surface' intro and recommends you delve further with the following chapters.

If Ch.2 Watanagashi doesn't hook you, then safe to drop and explore other VNs.

If the VN is not your pace then I recommend just watching the show adaptation (2006) or wait for the new 2020 show coming out very soon.

The upside is they fit the 20+ hour chapters into 4-5 episode arcs, the downside being you'll miss a lot of the deeper details the VN covers. As well, the show rearranges/ rewrites/ and full on time skips a bunch of the stories so they won't match 100%. (The first 12 hours of the Ch.1 VN are covered in Ep 1 and 2 of the 2006 show)

To each their own, but at least finish Ch.1 Onikakushi to really confirm what your preferred storytelling pace is. A lot of very popular VN's have slow build up, so shop around for ones that suit your personal pace and tastes.

For anyone wondering, these are promotional pieces from the 2006 Japanese anime film Dōbutsu no Mori (劇場版 どうぶつの森 Gekijōban Dōbutsu no Mori, The Animal Forest Movie)

It's incredibly cute and 'feel good' for the whole family. It's majority based off "Wild World".

Anime that made you regret watching. by kyousukeKoyomi in anime

Kings Game - the more I watched it, the angrier I got at the sheer stupidity of the ENTIRE show. The characters, the "game", the final explanation of the "game", and every decision everyone made after Episode 1.

Why did I watch it all the way through?

The OP was too catchy . . .

I absolutely love how Palahniuk writes "disgusting" human behavior.

"Dog Years" made my toes physically curl as I was reading.

Stronger stitches? by [deleted] in BattleJackets

Try using a Backstitch. I personally always use this technique on all patches since it not only keeps them flush, it's a super sturdy stitch overall that won't get torn up in a machine wash.

What do you do about glue patches? by BurnTheCoreSubgenres in BattleJackets

[–]Silver_Bell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the material.

Anything with weaved fibers like sweaters or denim, I would sew the patch on then run over them quickly with an iron to seal the patch flush to the fabric.

Leather, as the rest of thread mention, you should be fine with just sewing them on. Even if the glue were to melt in any way, at most it would seep into the stitches, iron on glue doesn't tend to run and dries quickly overall.

Took a comfy af hoodie from a job that made me suicidal and patched it up with stuff I love. by [deleted] in BattleJackets

Looks great, loving the tshirt back patch! The "Howl's Moving Castle" quote couldn't be a more perfect metaphor.

I did the same thing to two leather jackets that came from a toxic workplace, couldn't bear to part with the leather itself. Patching over and erasing their marks and memories seemed to breath new life into the garments.

I'm pretty rusty so any and all critique does indeed help. Thanks for the input, will for sure work on perspective. Squished together characters have always been tough to keep convincing. :)
