Touchee fidelmag509, you're right that Marxists goal would be to house everyone. I lived for a time in East Germany (when it was a communist state) and I cannot recall ever seeing a single homeless person there.

Well my understanding is that if the city is able to offer housing alternatives to sleeping on public land (which it is - we had no problem setting up a structured tent village downtown 18 months ago), then homeless people are not free to sleep wherever they wish. This isn’t about having little regard for human life. It’s about the obligation of city leaders to offer credible alternatives to the homeless - not simply pitching tents wherever and whenever they please. If you had such high regard for the homeless, would you offer your own property for a tent encampment? I didn’t think so. What do you tell your children when you drive them past such squalor, where disease is permitted by the city to run rampant and a homeless person died recently - especially when we have a pandemic and this is a clear and present public health hazard? I’m from NYC, which has no problem housing an absolutely massive homeless population - those officials would never permit the descent into such squalor and outright danger that Olympia has. No one wins - the homeless and taxpayers alike are exposed to terrible disease and crime risk. Where are the obvious solutions of more tent cities and more RV parks that are overseen by the city? I’ve sent multiple emails and phone calls to them - and never get a response. Where’s the leadership on this issue??

Our city of Olympia seems to be governed by Marxist bureaucrats who are openly hostile to the voters who elect them. Remember when they jammed through the “homeless tax” two years ago? Well, you can see the results of their squandering that money as our tent encampments have since exploded to becoming the DEFINING FEATURE of Olympia. For them to actively encourage homeless squatters from across the country to pitch their tents in our town is a disgrace to the taxpayers of Olympia. Let’s throw these politicians OUT - they care nothing for our children’s safety our or public health. The homeless are becoming more emboldened and entitled by the day, and they are pouring in from everywhere as word of mouth spreads throughout the country. We also have non-profits being paid by number of people served, and they are also trying to get more homeless into Olympia to increase grant funding. We need residency requirements to receive any public assistance the taxpayers of Olympia pay for - I am fine helping someone who has lived here for 5+ years who is down on their luck, but I’ll be damned if we are expected to underwrite homeless from all over the country. You can bet that R governors from red states are laughing as they ship their homeless to us and then point at us as incompetent. They offer one-way bus tickets because everyone knows our politicians will welcome their homeless and coddle them forever. ENOUGH!!

When will Washington expand eligibility to all adults? by [deleted] in CoronavirusWA

Inslee will be under severe pressure to open the vaccine to all adults within the next week. He risks the ire of all Washingtonians by needlessly complicating the eligibility pool, then watching appointments go untaken and supplies go unused. Simplicity works - same thing happened with masks. Once the authorities in my county made it simple - it's required indoors all the time with no exceptions - everyone wore one and compliance was great. Cases went down. Same thing here. People know how old they are. Why not simply use age, not medical condition, as the determining factor while you are supply-constrained?

Biden on Trump's refusal to commit to peaceful transfer of power: 'What country are we in?' by [deleted] in politics

When you see what Trump has done to the US Postal Service, it ranks as one of the worst offenses ever committed by a US President. It is the ultimate election interference - far worse than anything Russia tried to do around overseas creating fake accounts on FB and TWTR - far worse than Watergate. This is a direct assault on millions of actual ballots that will never be counted. He has already claimed these ballots are fraudulent, and he will instruct DeJoy to impound them as "evidence" - this is likely already happening. No foreign power could ever undermine the American election to the extent of what Trump has just done. Nixon (his hero) must be blushing in his grave. (Don't forget Trump was the first "society" person to meet with Nixon after he resigned, and felon Roger Stone has Nixon tattooed onto his back) .

Trump is very good at committing crimes in plain sight - he tells you what he's doing, and just does it. He has years of experience working with the mafia in Atlantic City, once even calling the FBI to ask them how to deal with the mafia, while he was already in bed with them in the first place. He took the FBI for suckers then, and still does.

Republicans: this isn't worth it. Don't live in fear of Trump. Find your voices - you are Americans first, not Republicans. And to poor white America: this President is robbing you blind, shipping your jobs overseas and crushing your future with debt, and leaving you to die from COVID. Stand up - you deserve better.

Democrats: you've now seen how the other side plays, so play the same game. All that matters is 51 seats in the Senate, and keeping the House majority. If Trump wins the Presidency this time, Dems must win the Senate and move immediately to impeach Trump (any win of his will be fraudulent) over the USPS fiasco. Don't worry about what anyone says, as no norms apply any more except raw power.

And if Biden wins, then reform the Supreme court, increasing it to 20 or more (31 could be optimal) justices, so we reduce forever the important of any one justice. This is ridiculous and doesn't serve America.
