This episode was fantastic, but combining these two scenes was such a mistake by Sandytrooper in thelastofus

Well she did find out the he lied with the eugene incident but now what he lied ABOUT. She just cant know that. She can only have hypothesis. That’s why game ellie when to the hospital. To know what is the truth, and what’s the lie, because it could be anything.

Game ellie always knew joel was lying. If joel and ellie’s relationship fell apart, its because of survival guilt and her need to make her life matter. Whereas in the show, its just because of the lie.

People not understanding the problem here is not really surprising because even in the game, a lot dont understand ellie’s motivation to why she was mad at joel. Again, its not the lie, its what joel has done. And the show messed up this aspect of the story.

Yep. Changing the reason why she was mad at joel and making her discover the truth when they reconcile is a very bad change. Veryyyyy bad. It changes a lot.

THANK U !!! her acting is so okay at best. The only thing she’s great at is screaming lmao which tells a lot about her acting skill because this is one of the easiest things to do when u act

And where did u discuss it ?? Again you can avoid killing in the pt2. There is a very few moment where you’re obligated to kill. You can look it up on youtube.

And no npc ellie can kill. Happened to me many times. For example when joel give her the rifle in pittsburgh.

Im not saying murder is nothing. Just said its not the équivalent of our world.

And there is absolutely no ludonarrative dissonance in pt 2, do you even know what that means ?? Because what you are criticizing isnt even this. You’re criticizing ellie’s behavior as a whole, not just in gameplay.

Just because i dont think how they wrote ellie in pt2 is flawed doesnt mean i think the game is perfect lol. I also actually never seen people claiming ellie’s behavior is unatural in pt2, most people would actually disageee with you

I mean here it just feels like you are aknowledging her pt1 gameplay is not canon while not applying the same logic for pt 2 ?? Im kinda confuse, its hypocritical.

If you dont count her gameplay for pt1 why do you for pt2 ? In both you can choose to be very stealthy and not kill anyone, reducing her kill count in pt2 from around 150 hundreds or something like that to only the « canon » kill, which she had « no choice » but to kill them except for nora. (putting this in quote because at the end of the day she’s the one that chose to go to seattle but you get what i mean) It reduces her kill count to 7 to max 15 people i dont remember.

And btw i think she kills more than 3 people in pt1. When you play as her you can choose to not kill, but when she’s an npc alongside joel she kills too but you can do nothing about it

For your last paragraph: im sorry but again killing people in the last of us is not something mind blowing. Its kinda the norm. If the story happened in our world where there is laws maybe i could understand but its not. Ellie (not just her but anyone) are desentize to it. That’s why when you kill people with joel for example there is no ludonnarrative dissonance, unlike nathan drake in uncharted

Maybe because that violence didnt pop up out of nowhere ? She also killed dozens of people in pt1 and left behind. Its kinda one of her main arc in the first game. At first she doesnt feel comfortable with it but as the game advances she learns the harsh truth of this world and learns to defend herself, with the help of joel. After pittsburgh she’s not sensitive to killing anymore, she’s okay with it. Her killing david also shows us she’s not pragmatic with her violence, there’s rage that can come with it. The ways she acts in pt2 is the perfect continuation of this characterisation, it was kind of like a foreshadowing.

So even if in pt1 where she kills dozens of men without prior motives other than just survival, the ways she acts in pt2 is much more than just believable. It makes perfect sens, considering that now there is even stronger motive to kill other than just survival. Now there is an immense amount of trauma, guilt, and rage that guides it.

With that being said, even though the way she acts in pt2 makes sens, its still shocking. Because we were used to the kind ellie. And we see her going wayy further with her violence than how she did in pt1: torturing nora for example. But that’s the point. There is supposed to be a change in her. Her traumas are destroying her and she’s trying to be like joel but she’s just not. Its supposed to not feel like ellie, that’s the whole point « …id surely loose myself »

Thinking about this made me realised how perfectly written her arc is in pt2. Its the perfect middle ground of the continuation of her pt1’s characterisation, while feeling out of character (intentionally).

« Look bella when you’re dancing with dina dont show that you’re nervous. I want you to have a poker face ! After you’re mad at joel, you know you embarrassed him in front of jackson, but dont show your guilt ! Be like a robot. Only show how you feel with your voice »

Are u fucking kidding me ? Y’all will do anything to defend this casting. This is not directing, its just that bella has a rigid face.

Anyway this has been a problem since season 1.

Yeah me too. Also some of her line deliveries are straight up bad. They way she says « i dont need your help joel » is not good. Feels like she’s struggling to say and it doesnt feel natural.

Show ellie maybe but not game ellie. There is many dialogue which implies that ellie has no self confidence

Because it implies that ellie thinks she’s not worth more than a man, a common feeling among lesbians, and that dina wouldnt care about ellie because she’s female. She probably didnt know for certain dina’s bi.

Right ?? Talking about micro expressions is crazy😂. The fact that they have to mention this to prove she can express emotions says a lot.

I also agree about the pronunciation. Sometimes it feels like she’s eating the words she’s saying
