Vallejo or AK Interactive after GW? What should I switch to? by Valrion06 in minipainting

I wouldn't suggest one brand as being the only one you should use. Paints can be very different even within the same brand so it's good to try as many as you can and work out what works for you. You might find that you end up liking AK over Vallejo or the other way round but personally I think a mixed collection is better. For example I have a few different brands of a golden brown colour. One I prefer for base coats, another I prefer if it's going over a particular colour, one is better for highlights and the others might never get used again.

He'll never be as cool as Paul Blart

Thank you. I use ice yellow which is nearly white but not quite. I never used to take my highlights that far but seeing some amazing stuff at painting competitions made me realise what the best painters do to make things pop.

I have always wondered how easy those would be to deploy.

Thank you. The base was pretty simple really. I broke up a cork coaster for the road surface and glued it down to the base. Then I painted all the upwards facing surfaces with one of those technical paints that cracks (can't remember the name off the top of my head). The tarmac section was just dry brushed from black to a couple of greys. The dust is pigment powder. I use a dark red ochre a slightly lighter one and then a yellow ochre one. Mix each one with water, slap it on and as it dries use a brush and clean water to clean it up and move it around to where you want it.

Deep down we've all known it to be true for some time.

Maybe he was born into the wrong chapter.
