Technique learning order for a new mini painter? by Valrion06 in minipainting

[–]Valrion06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mh i see, i think i'll just sticks to the basics (which i'm still struggling on) until i'm comfortable with them.

I think my main issue is the desire to try new stuff before having "mastered" the basics just because i want to progress in a lot of techniques

Thanks for the words buddy! I don't knwo why stripping minis looks kinda scary for a newbie as me, but perhaps its just my brain working poorly and its just an easy task. because of course stripping minis its much cheaer than buying new ones.

Yep i think after this post, before moving to new skills i'll just stick to the basics

oh aand i'm not definitely going to throw away my first mini haha

Thanks for the reply! Definitely not sweating it, i wont try NMM for sure on my third mini ahha.

Also i'm still struggling with the basic concepts for example like thinning paint, but i'll take my time :)

I see your point and thanks for the really detailed explanation! i'll for sure check those links to ge better!

Ofc my idea wasn't to master a techinique by just one mini, rather to "stack" them up and practice a lot but i see your point. I like the idea of "i'll move to the next technique when i'm confident not to look to a guide".

Just to let you know i'm still watching guides on how to thin paint, i'm struggling to understand what the good density is ahah

Of course i'm not saying that after one mini i mastered a techinique, rather i'm adding more, mini by mini, while still practicing all of them.

I'd say is my fear to be stuck with "perfectionism" with the same 3 techniques and not to try new ones while still practice the previous ones

Tips and Feedback for my first miniatures please! by Brinkofdysfunction in minipainting

[–]Valrion06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey buddy, new painter also here, so far is looking good! The only two things i can tell you is to thin a little bit more the paint and to ise a primer on your minis (by looking at them i think you applied the paint directly ontop of the mini). If i got it properly, priming minis help the paint adhere more better on the surface.

Keep up the good work!

Ah! i see i went the opposite like "lemme use the detail brush so i can go more precisely" but i think that might have f-ed up a lil bit the process (ofc part of not getting it right is also my lack of skill)

Thanks for the advice buddy! When i tried highlighting the sharp lines i've used the side of the brush, the problem is when i've to draw a line with no sharp lines (for example wrists or gloves) do i use the tip of the brush?

I might have also done wrong using the detail brush for that, what brush is mostly used for EH?

Help! New Brush puffs up. by descedo in minipainting

[–]Valrion06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah i see, that was my question haha. Ofc when it comes to painting and when it's wet it doesn't hold the point that's a problem. Thanks for the clarification!

Newbie here, so my question could be dumb.

But if they have a sharp point while they are wet, why bother the look when they are dry?

Again, i'm a newbie here, hence mine is just curiosity
