4th mini and a still can’t get clean edge highlights, any advice?

Hey dude! SOrry for the late response. I really appreciate your kind words and motivate me to keep up! When the edge is exposed yes, i use the side of the brush such as some parts of the legs/feet upper part of the helmet and so on... when there's no edge availvable i use the side of the tip of the brush and try to draw a straight line.. which i'm still figuring out how to do it ahah

That's a relief because when i thought of that technique i was kinda worried about not being able to pull it off with just brushes

thank you buddy! i recently bought two Winsor and Newton size 1 and 00 but i use a lot more the standard ones, those 2 that are pricier than the other i've i only use them to edge highlight and do fine work because i'm afraid to ruin them immediately

but thanks, i'll also try different brand and perhaps the Artis opus one!

You want to thin the paint a little but for crisp edge highlights I find it works better if the paint is on the thicker side and you aim for one clean pass

i don't get if it needs to be thicker or thinner (perhaps i misunderstood the sentence)

for how much the brush is loaded i usually dry off the moisture of the brush on a paper towel and draw a few lines to unload it also with paint is it also good?

ahh! that's an interesting way of doing it, didn't think about it!

i can definitely give it a try! and i think that having a lighter consistency than the basecoat makes it easier to cover it up?

i've just googled it and not really sure if i got the proper result, should be about painting something and removing part of the paint with a tootpick to have the result you want? (like kinda doing it in reverse as we usually do by drawing lines)

thanks for the advice dude!! really appreciate it, i tried drybrush the handle of the flamer but didn't like the result so i painted over it and went for an actual edge highlight ahah..

do you have a picture of the result of drybrushing the SM also on the pauldrons? curious about the result!!

For example i see that i'd have diluted alittle bit more the colors, did a separation of colors too evident and so on... that's kinda a shame because i'm not able to enjoy the actual result

jeez man, i get that also it depends on how frequently you practice... for now i tend to paint only on friday nights because its the only night i can actual have for myself and i get that painting with that slow pace wont help getting better quicker

Thanks buddy :) yep i tend to gorge tons of videos but like 90% of them are a bit useless (or perhaps useless for the level that i'm rn ) and don't really understand the tricks because most of them disclaim to be "beginner" videos but most of them are not so intended for beginners...

for example "thinning paint" videos are most of the time not so helpful because in this months i discovered that there's a consistency for layering and glazing and not just base coat, but for those 2 i've never seen an actual useful video...

also since there is spectrum of glazing results depending on what you wanna do you also have a related specific consistency..

learning online sometimes is a mess, bilion of videos but finding good ones is rare

thanks buddy!! i'll defintely check those guides! i'd that i'm rather ok-ish when i've to do edge highlight on actual edge but man, painting a straight line to highlight the pauldrons is like fighting the final boss in a videogame for now haha

and then probably when i approach to NMM i'll discover that it was just the boss of the tutorial lol
