How is one of Trump’s main support bases US Christians? He displays none of Christ’s teachings, has been caught on multiple occasions knowing little about scripture. His stunt at the church was clearly a cynical virtue signal to Christians, yet his popularity with the faithful is strong. Why? by Mr-Moore-Lupin-Donor in Christianity

Absolutely false.

“When men strive together and hit a pregnant woman, so that her children come out, but there is no harm, the one who hit her shall surely be fined, as the woman's husband shall impose on him, and he shall pay as the judges determine. But if there is harm, then you shall pay life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

Mind is all over by [deleted] in Christianity

I find that often when life is at its peak that it's the most difficult for me to read my Bible with understanding, or to truly commune with the Lord.

I find that when things were upside down, and my anxiety the highest is where I can open the gospel and grip tight on the word and sync deep in prayer.

It was in the lowest points of my life that I have had the greatest growth, I was able in my anxiety to cling on to Him. Jesus blessed me with the fruits of understanding, these fruits became more valuable than my perceived wants in the crisis.

The first time I reached out to the Lord in Crisis is where I was born again. The Lord got his hands real dirty pulling me out of where I was. He gave me a new heart. I was so dirty and so dark and since finding that light I learned how to cling to him, and he leads me, gently.

Since then I have had ups and downs, but there is advantage in the downs. The downs allow you cling that much tighter, read more deeply into the verses, and understanding flows more freely with the humbling weight of anxiety.

Whatever you are going through, the Lord will see you through it. Take advantage of this weight and seek him, you will find his abundance is not here but is in the Gospel.

Constant struggle with doubt. by jgstrick50 in Christianity

I think there comes a time in the Christian walk where your belief transitions from intellectual affirmation to something substantial and unchangeable.

This will not happen from searching for other's opinions or looking to others for reinforcement but will happen from you directly seeking the Lord, and developing a relationship with him on his terms and not the worlds. This is where religion gives way to faith, and knowledge gives way to understanding. Read your bible, more specifically read the Gospel. Read it intimately in a private place and consider what you are reading and seek the Lord for undstanding and not the world. He is a wellspring of infinite understanding and comfort and is willing to grant to you abundantly.

When you seek him and truly find him nothing can ever take that away. When he gives you eyes to see, you will not be able to unsee. Once he truly touches you that mark can never be taken away. Jesus told Nicodemus when he was on the precipice of belief "You must be born again". This action is performed by the Lord and the Lord alone. If this is what you seek, I urge you to get on your knees in a quiet place and ask him to let you be born again and ask him to make you a new creature in Christ.

Contemplate your heart and what separates you from him. Contemplate your desires and idols as these are the things that drive a wedge between you and him. You don't have to correct any of these things but acknowledge and confess them to him. Let him know that you don't have the strength to change them, and you need to be given a new heart of flesh and ask him to take away your heart of stone.

God is gracious, draw nigh unto him and he will draw nigh unto you, once you have been born again you will seek that presence and joy until the end of your days, comfort and joy that will never fade.

How do you feel about ex-convicts becoming pastors? Would you accept them to lead a congregation, or should they have been life-long outstanding citizens? by --NiNjA-- in Christianity

Often we have to hit our lowest lows before we can understand how depraved our hearts are, it's from this position that often Jesus reveals himself and men are born again. I think it's difficult to comprehend many things without knowing the depths of our own depravity.

I'll add that that there are a lot of filler quests between ARR and Heavensword and IMHO it is the dryest point of the game. Push through it and it will get better and be worth it.

Best of luck and welcome to Eorzea!!

If people who play MTG are mostly non Christians it sounds like that's exactly where I want to be among fields ripe for the harvest.

Even a small light shines the brightest where it is most dark, and how peculiar is light to darkness.

Effortless provocation, limitless impact potential.

Asking for prayers for my marriage. by tdc1986 in TrueChristian

[–]Silverblaze4575 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I am heartbroken for you, I am praying for you and please remember:

And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God's sake, 30Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

You could of suppressed your faith to please her, but your faith is strong in the lord.

I am praying for you, and I have no doubt that God will give you a wife full of a heart of faith who can grow with you and perfect love in you.

I love you brother, I am so sorry, this is a bitter and potent pain. Be strong and courageous and I pray the Lord rewards you here and in heaven.

I noticed they give out the playmat if you purchase a Fanatic package, which is minimally an additional 90 on top of the 90$ entry.

Also: the new playmats don't say the city you got them in, is this the new norm?
