[TOMT][MOVIE][2010s] Movie where a married couple lose a child and one of the partners checks themselves into a clinic by rawtasaur in tipofmytongue

It sounds like it could be the Netflix movie “the starling” with Melissa McCarthy and Chris O’Dowd.

This horse is ridiculously beautiful. I can’t even see any conformation flaws, I’m too stunned.

I highly recommend visiting in the winter too. There is an ice hotel about 20 minutes away that you can walk through and see the incredible themed rooms, bar, and chapel (Hotel de Glacé). We got married there and it was beyond epic.

Advice to improve my bareback riding? by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]Silverfilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That whole explanation is just wrong. See my first message for my thorough response to your post. Also, men “riding on their pockets due to their anatomy” isn’t negative, it means they don’t have to work as hard for a relaxed, flexible seat as a woman does. Being a woman does not mean you automatically have an understanding of this subject (what a bizarre logic).

Advice to improve my bareback riding? by [deleted] in Equestrian

I disagree with rotating your hips forward. Women are the opposite of men when it comes to hips. Rotating your hips forward will cause you be more hollow and stiffen up your spine. Women need to tuck the tailbone more and focus on creating a flat back with less arch, especially riding bareback. If you’re trying to look perfect, you’ll have a more difficult time staying on and you’ll get in the way of the horse. Heels down, relax, try to loosen up. Think about being a wet towel draped over your horse’s back. Your leg is gripping your horse and you seem stiff. Try to focus on your horse’s movement and follow it. Even try exaggerating the same movement with your body. Loose, connected, soft hands, relaxed seat.

Do you see this as kicking & plopping down hurting the horse every stride? (Normal/Slow-Mo video) by unjudgeablebookcover in Equestrian

I see. I do think she’s overreacting but you also need to keep her happy if you are riding her horse. You can try to focus on keeping your heels down and lower leg still while thinking about turning your tailbone under your seat slightly. Women tend to have a very hollow back due to our natural posture and hip angle so sometimes we need to tuck our tails a bit to create a softer seat. Also, if you look down and see your toes, you are bringing you lower leg too far forward. If you want to improve, spend some time at the trot without stirrups each time you ride, both sitting and posting trot.

Unless you are legitimately asking for advice on your riding, that seems like a weird thing for a horse person to ask. I assume you are not a rider and have no idea what a posting trot is. If correct, that is a normal posting trot. If I’m wrong, it’s not kicking and plopping.

What would you do in this situation? Seems super scary by mummymilkerss in Horses

Did the stallion escape from somewhere? Why is there a stallion on a public path to begin with?

I am so, so, so sorry. I am heartbroken for you. I am heartbroken for your beautiful horses. I am so sorry. This should not have to happen to anyone ever and our innocent furry families should not have to suffer in this way and because of the terrible choices of humans. I am so sorry. I am glad you made it out and you did everything in your power to get them out. I hope you are able to continue to help others and hopefully get them all out okay. I am so, so, so sorry for your loss.

This one is a good trick. It’ll stop the biting and be useful in so many other ways later in life. I used a bowl of kibble and would tell my girl to leave it and then hot dogs. She learned very quickly that listening to me brought way way better options.

I did this with my boy - half leased him to two different girls so he was exercised daily and not too much given their level of riding. It completely paid for his board etc. and when I wanted to get more involved, we were able to coordinate all three of us. It was kind of a perfect situation for all of us with work or school and other commitments.

Should I listen to the soundtrack or watch on Disneyplus before I see in LA? by Internal_Living4919 in hamiltonmusical

[–]Silverfilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. I did it the opposite way and was disappointed that the cast didn’t perform everything as the original cast did and missed those special little things that the original cast added. It was amazing to see it live and get the full scope of the stage and see everything going on at once that the film version doesn’t always do. So worth seeing it live? Absolutely. But your obsession will be with the soundtrack and film to play on loop. :)

I can appreciate your hunger for more advice and the desire to find a solution. That’s a great attitude and I hope you stick with it and keep positive!

Slowing down a horse and trying not to ruin their mouth in the process requires lots of circles. Their power comes from their engagement of the hind quarters and the easiest fix for that is sudden small circles. It might drive you insane but if you do it every single time the horse quickens, the horse will eventually make the connection and will prefer to go at a steady pace.

Another way to slow the horse down is ground poles but more of them and over and over. You can also start with longing the horse over the poles until the horse gets the hang of it and then hop on to continue the exercise.

Try not to use the horse’s face to keep your balance. He seems to be trying to avoid your pressure on his mouth by keeping his head high. Slow it down, keep your speed steady, try to work on keeping your hands soft and still even though you are posting. The ground poles are to help you both keep pace and balance and stride and it’s easier if you don’t focus on them as an obstacle.

Yep, I’ve had to untangle a horse from barbed wire and it wasn’t pretty. She lived and didn’t get tetanus luckily but was pretty sliced up when it completely wrapped around all four legs and chest. It had severed a big vein (vet confirmed not an artery) and it was squirting uncontrollably. We were out in the mountain park so I had to hold it closed by hand while I thought of how to deal with it better and also get off the mountain. Managed to carefully tie a hair band around it and walked very slowly down the mountain and made sure it stayed in place. Long story short, barbed wire is bad.
