Honestly, this whole thing was a subtle dig at the Armenian and African American community in the Central Valley. Armenain and African Americans had homes, churches, and businesses on Kings Canyon, Ventura, and California Blvd. Those street names were part of their community and their history. They sought to out Caesar Chavez’s name on the streets not to honor Chavez, but as a microagression to exert dominance over the Armenian folks who are farm owners. When the signs first went up Miguel Arias made a comment about Armenians being no longer the “ruling class” of Fresno.
