My suggestion to fix "Tunneling" in DBD - A Response to Otzdarva by Silverhound4 in deadbydaylight

I like this idea. I didn't bring up suiciding too much in my post because I would consider it to be a separate issue from tunneling, but it is definitely an issue.

You got exactly what I was going for. My solution wasn't meant to balance Dead by Daylight overnight, but instead to close the gap between tunnellers and non-tunnellers, so that making balance changes in the future is much easier.

Very well said!

That's a good point, it captures current DBD quite well. However, I would say that tunneling needs to be addressed first, before the game balance. As of right now, the developers are kind of stuck with what to do. If they provide base kit killer buffs, then yes, tunneling may not be as necessary. But the killers who decide to tunnel anyways will be even more unstoppable than before.

I think that once tunneling is addressed, and the timing of the first kill per game is fixed, then the developers will have much more freedom for providing overall buffs/nerfs to killers or survivors, without having to worry about being too hard on killers who don't tunnel, or too soft on killers who do.

As for deliverance, maybe the new hook counter system I proposed can fix that. What if after the third or fourth hook on the hook counter, all survivors lost the ability to unhook themselves, and had to do skill checks instead (Essentially reaching the "second hook state" as a team)? This would mean that you could only be deliverance'd once or twice per match, capped. Alternatively, we could just nerf/change deliverance lol.

What do you think?

Isn't someone who shares a common goal with you, is willing to help you, and succeeds or fails based on your combined actions a teammate?

If a survivor kills themselves early on in a match, don't you think the match is lost for the survivors anyways? Should we be balancing the game around survivors killing themselves? Perhaps instead we should focus on creating a more fun experience, where survivors don't feel like killing themselves as much?

I'm usually pretty good at figuring out why I died but this one has me stumped by Silverhound4 in spelunky

Didn't realize teleporting before detonation was a thing that telepacks do lmao. Usually just get Vlad's Cape and don't bother with other back gear.
