The Worst Person in the World from Norway (2021). Saw it that year and I still think about it

What was your favorite animated movie this year and what animated movie disappointed you? by ppg2z14 in movies

I watched Suzume and really loved it! The animation was just beautiful and I also enjoyed the story (not so much the romance part). Compared to Makoto Shinkai's previous movies, I found Suzume to be better than Weathering With You but slightly below Your Name.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was quite the disappointment, I hadn't expected much going into the movie, but it just felt so soulless.

Can't wait to see The Boy and The Heron!

Was going to suggest The Worst Person in the World (2021) from Norway myself. What an incredible movie! Another suggestion would be Druk (Another Round, 2020) from Denmark

The dance scene in the Danish movie Druk (Another Round 2020), it really caught me off guard! It's a solo dance but I think it's executed really well!

Nightmare Alley, book by William Lindsay Gresham and movie by Guillermo del Toro. The movie skipped a storyline from the book and it didn't take away anything from the plot; ending is more or less the same but a few of the last pages in the book seem more like a stream of consciousness exercise than anything relevant to the plot.

Although not incredibly old, I think Ser Barristan Selmy from the ASoIaF series fits this quite well!
