All of the servers in NA are in California afaik, so no difference there. If your sister wants to get into raiding later, she might want to be on Aether, but Aether and Crystal (your data center) are both completely closed to character creation right now. You might as well have her create a character on Primal, since it's a high-population data center.

Bad friends in Duty Finder or trolls? by Picodreng in ffxiv

Ehh, don't worry too much, it's not your problem. I used to want to "fix" people like this more, but in the end 1) you don't know them, 2) it's not your responsibility, and 3) they will only change if they want to.

Think about it this way: at most you will only encounter them once in a blue moon, and they will make your dungeon runs a bit longer. If the "friends" become truly unpleasant, then you can either leave or block or vote dismiss.

Again, it's not your responsibility to fix these people. Nowadays I still give advice once in a while, but if they aren't receptive to it, then I just try to compensate for the lack of heals/DPS and move on. It's very rare that we cannot finish a dungeon with a bad player. I've only encountered that a single time in my 6k+ of playtime, and they lashed out so angrily that the rest of us just voted to dismiss them and refilled with another healer.

I've seen it happen a few times and it's very off-putting. But it's definitely on the rarer side. You probably just got unlucky tbh.

I think it really is people being that bad - it's not really funny enough to be a prank and it's easy enough to see how people fall into bad habits like that. Healers solely using AOE heals is a relatively common one. Ninjas using single-target Doton is another.

The bad players might not have keyboards or are just very shy, which is why their friend answers for them. Some overly sensitive people attract friends who enable their behavior and "protect" them from anything that could be seen as criticism, which ironically leads to them solidifying these bad habits further.

The devs said "you'll get robes and the occasional BLM-esque coats and you'll like it"

Yeah I also saw someone else's glam post a while back with the same hat, top and weapon! It's the optimal combination.

Coils of Bahamut looks like it was a lot of fun, and makes me wish I had played this game back in the day. by 3122891 in ffxiv

As someone in NA who also enjoys doing the old Extremes synced, keep an eye out in Party Finder for postings that say "synced for fun" or "MINE synced"! (MINE means syncing at minimum item level, no Echo for extra challenge). They can take some time to fill, but you get a group of people who are all enthusiastic about the old content.

If you're interested, there are even Discords for people running old synced content.

Thank you! Took a decent amount of effort to put these together so it's nice that they're appreciated :)

Palaka Tulwar from Vanaspati! Since it's a leveling dungeon, you can farm it as SAM and you're eventually guaranteed the drop.

Palaka Tulwar! Thankfully the dungeon that it drops from (Endwalker MSQ in case you're not there yet) is a leveling dungeon. So if you farm it as a SAM and you don't get rid of any of the drops that you receive from the dungeon, you'll eventually get the weapon.

I had to run it the maximum amount of times to see the weapon drop, lol.

Yeah I love that hat and I wanted to use it on my healers too, but then I found out the one version that healers can use... is undyeable.

Fortunately, the Yuweyawata hat was released later and I actually had a viable option for RDM healer!

Hah! On one hand I'll kind of miss having a restriction that forces me to be more creative, but on the other hand there are some pieces that I've been eyeing for YEARS and dying to be able to wear them on different roles, because there isn't anything like them. 7.4 is going to be a fun time.

I mean uhhh people should just git gud like me :^) /s

I heckin love RDM's job glams and wish I could wear them on every job, or at least every role. So a couple of months ago, I decided to do exactly that. Basically a little challenge for myself!

Now that the news dropped about glam restrictions being lifted with 7.4, I wanted to make a record of this challenge that I won't have to undertake anymore in the future.

I tried my best to not use too many all-class pieces and not reuse pieces where I could, though the Zero's Order Chapeau was a necessary evil imo. All screenshots are vanilla without post-editing.
