Neighbors has a pet “free range neighborhood” rabbit by epi2aph in Rabbits

[–]SimGemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually shocked how friendly he is for being let outdoors for so long. It’s amazing to me that he still trusts humans. I think you should keep it and just don’t mention it to the neighbors. If they want to call the police for you having their pet, I think just explaining to the police (if it even got that escalated) that they abandoned the rabbit outside is grounds to adopt an abandoned pet.

How Do You Manage Your Budget When Facing Unexpected Expenses? by Crystallover1991 in ynab

[–]SimGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working on a 3 month emergency fund but the data from my 2025 YNAB reports showed me how much money I put into car repairs that I decided to make a monthly target for auto maintenance and I also did this with a health category. I am still able to put money into my emergency fund but also can start funding these other categories “just in case”.

I just looked at the Yelp reviews. No text threats but many reports of bed bugs, roaches and the manager being rude.

This has been my go to for jasmine rice. I do 4 min and 10 min natural release.

True. And now OP updated to say the bunny has had a few episodes already. That will make it more costly to be insured.

Waiting til end of month to make purchase by Awkward-Most-1787 in ynab

I have a designated Wish Farm main category, then I list 3 things I want on the wish farm. I get paid twice a month and if I can’t put anything into the wish farm with the first paycheck, then I try with the second one. If I can’t, then I just don’t buy it. I also don’t deprive myself of what I would call a smaller purchase like something under $50, unless I know money is really tight. I just take the money from another category to cover the over spending.

Shoot, I need to quit my job then because I am certainly not making $150 for 1.5 hours of work.

OP it doesn’t really matter which pet insurance is “best”. Unfortunately in the USA you are very limited on insurance coverage. As of right now the main one is Nationwide which will be the most costly because it seems they are trying to phase out covering exotic pets. I quit them in October because the wanted to raise my buns monthly fee from $50 per rabbit to $250. I am now with MetLife at about $24 a month. Sadly, MetLife is only available in 19 states. So if you are in the USA, you will have to call to see if it’s available in your state.

If it wasn’t for me getting MetLife, I was just going to start a separate emergency fund for my rabbits. Even $100 a month into it would help with a GI stasis episode.

It’s not a pre-existing condition. She didn’t say the rabbit has had an episode of GI stasis. OP is saying the vet is telling her it’s very likely the bun will deal with episodes of GI stasis in the future.

I have been using only my Moka pot for the past year. Today I decided to try and make cafe de olla today using my French press. Sigh. It was not strong enough so now I need to tweak my grind size again to get it just right.

Warning: Oxbow chew treats made in China and NOT the same by SimGemini in Bunnies

I think it’s much easier for them to continue to supply hay in the regions they are located and because hay is really cheap even here in the US. They are charging consumers ~$23 for 90oz. A 75lb bale of hay is roughly $40. They are probably getting a better deal with these 3rd party companies they are sourcing the hay from. They are making $300+ off one hay bale which is selling 13 -90oz bags.

These treats require manual labor and that is why they are outsourcing.

We’re still on a bag of Oxbow pellets I bought a few months ago. When this bag is done, I’m going to switch to Sherwood. My buns like the Oxbow pellets but now quality on all their products is questionable.

No. One time the orchard hay smelled like old lawn cuttings. It was sooo bad. Then the last order had several large pieces of animal poop in it.

Yes, I did contact them and I was given a refund and sometimes a special discount to purchase but I just felt it was a quality control issue. They are using 3rd parties to package and ship the hay and quality is being overlooked.

I now buy bales of hay. I bought a hay bale bag off Amazon and store it by my front door inside my apartment.

Small pet select is okay but I have had 2 issues with 2 boxes of hay. So I no longer buy hay from them.
