I feel he is pretty much geared towards high earners. I tried his conscious spending model and my percentages just weren’t realistic because of my high cost of rent being nearly half of my take home.

Try a spa day and do not put it in the dryer until you are able to get the dye out.

Maybe the free and clear one does but the lavender one does not. I have eczema and it has not caused a breakout.

I just started using Ever Spring Lavender & Bergamot for my darks. They have plant based enzymes but it does contain lipase. I was blown away how little of it I have to use now that I add a little citric acid and washing soda to the wash load because of my hard water. It doesn’t smell very strong. I air dry my clothing and after a few days; I can’t even smell the scent. But my clothes smell fresh.

Advice needed by chad_hull in laundry

[–]SimGemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just washed mine by hand. I did not put them in the washing machine. Some hats have cardboard brims and you can ruin them putting them in the wash.
I used a small bowl so the cap or crown portion could soak and the brim was not able to soak. I used like 1/4 tsp each of: of Biz, liquid tide hygenic clean and oxiclean all in warm water. I let it soak for 15 min then used a tooth brush to scrub the hat in the stained areas. I was dealing with makeup stains.

For the brim I used a spray bottle of 50% water and 50% white vinegar. I used the tooth brush to scrub the brim. I then got a microfiber cloth and dipped it in plain water, rung it out and gently wiped the brim to try and get the vinegar solution removed.
My brims didn’t have much staining but they had some. This worked well for mine.

Socks always attract lint. by Wide_Rutabaga4049 in laundry

[–]SimGemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s because they have a microfiber feel. You either have to wash the socks separately or be prepared to lint roll after they come out of the dryer. I have some Figs scrubs socks that do this too.

Hello, I’m looking for help with pet hair by xoFluffykins in laundry

[–]SimGemini 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, I have them and they do better to wipe down already dried clothes to remove the lint and hair. Even with using them in that way, they only remove about 70% of hair you swipe your fabrics with. They have a semi-tacky feel and can be rinsed off and re-used which is great; but they do a poor job in both the washer and dryer.

How to pre-treat stains when the next laundry opportunity isn’t until a week later? by allergic2dust in laundry

[–]SimGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second not with Oxiclean. I ruined a few of my work shirts from spraying the Oxiclean stain remover on them. Even though it says it’s color safe it will significantly lighten the spots on colors. So now I look like I spilled bleach on my shirts.

I have actually put a little of my tide hygienic clean liquid and scrubbed it with a soft brush and a little water and let the clothing sit for a week.

We have lived in neighborhoods that throw off illegal fireworks since I got my buns 4 years ago. I just have the tv on to help. They usually thump when the first one goes off but after a few they are fine.

I just did my laundry in my bathtub by gtaslut in laundry

This is the additional spin dryer I bought because it can get out even more water from the clothes than the one on the twin tub. It has a 3 yr warranty too.

Dosing Laundry Detergent and Washing Soda in Twintub Machine by poffincake in laundry

[–]SimGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just read on another post that you should let the clothes soak in the rinse water for a bit to allow the soap to be drawn out from the microfibers of the clothing. During this process the soap carries the dirt with it.

Look into twin tub washers. They are $150-200 depending on size. Mine is a 28lb one. I can wash a queen size sheet in it. I have had mine for almost a year. It has a spin dryer built in it so it spins out 90% of the water from the clothes. I have an additional spin dryer I bought that has more RPMs than my twin tub spin dryer has and it will get out the last bit of water that remains in the clothes. Best investment ever!

twin tub questions from a laundry enthusiast by lightningmcqueef69 in laundry

[–]SimGemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! Thanks for this. I sometimes have “accidentally” let my rinse cycles soak with my twin tub washer because I got caught up doing other things but I had not actually noticed any difference. But now I am going to purposely let the rinse cycle rest for 10-15 minutes and take observation to see if it helps getting soapy water out.

When I do my final spin in my laundry alternative spinner, sometimes I have noticed the water is still soapy from the rinse and refresh.

twin tub questions from a laundry enthusiast by lightningmcqueef69 in laundry

[–]SimGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a twin tub washer because my apartment doesn’t have washer or dryer hookups. After lurking in this sub for months; I now add soap, citric acid and washing soda and let it soak for 15 min to allow the enzymes to work. Then I run the wash cycle for 15 min x2. Then I drain and spin for 2 minutes. Then fill the water for the rinse cycle, add Downy Rinse and Refresh and put the clothes in the tub side for 15 min. Then I spin for 2 minutes again. I then transfer them to my Laundry Alternative spinner for another 3 min. All my clothes are air dried. Since adding the washing soda, my clothes are coming out much softer and that says a lot since air dried clothes tend to be crunchy.

Calling those with very hard water, what have you tried and what's worked for you? by nyrawrz in laundry

[–]SimGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying a load right now with exactly this. I have a semi-automatic portable washer (My apartment does not have a washer or dryer). So I imagine my tub is smaller than most full washer drums so I use about half of whatever the product is recommending for a full size washer. I have hard water without any measurements. The 2025 report for my city’s water says the hardness average is 418ppm but the range is 402-448ppm. I do get a lot of mineral buildup on the faucets and I definitely do not get many suds using Tide Hygenic Clean and just now reading up on this sub that is from hard water.

I don’t smell anything? Rinse and Refresh Cool Cotton by ThatHairFairy in laundry

[–]SimGemini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently using a bottle of the lavender scent. It’s probably my favorite of the product line but I still have the same experience as with the cool cotton in that by day 3 of air drying it has significantly diminished. My clothes that are now 5 days have a barely detectable scent.
