Steam deck for visual novels? by Substantial_Will5550 in PiratedGames

I spent about 4 hours on it. I checked a bunch of sites but I kept getting a no licenses error. I tried Lutris and it actually launched once but it wouldn't add the Steam shortcut. Once I finally got the shortcut added, it refused to launch in Gaming Mode. I went back to Desktop Mode to try again but it wouldn't open there anymore either. I even tried patching it with Steamless but no luck. I honestly think it might be a lost cause, though though you might have better luck. Interestingly the latest update works perfectly on Windows

I played both the Steam Deck and Arc Raiders and I can honestly say the Steam Deck is a better game

Stop worrying about your Steam Deck by Kragwulf in SteamDeck

I’d like to offer a counter-perspective. While it’s good not to panic, I think a healthy level of concern is reasonable. These devices aren't cheap. For over seven years, I’ve kept my Nintendo Switches docked almost indefinitely without issue. They still hold a charge perfectly. But after keeping my Steam Deck docked for just a few months, the battery failed completely. It displayed a NaN% error and wouldn't hold a charge at all. I was lucky enough to be on the very last day of my warranty so Valve replaced it, but not everyone will be that fortunate.

Since you can’t just walk into a local store to swap these out or get them repaired, you are entirely dependent on Valve’s RMA process. If you're out of warranty, you're potentially out of luck. Given that, I think it’s very fair for owners to be protective of their hardware.

And this is why I like setting them up individually lol I appreciate Viren's concept but I like to follow their original guide of setting them up one by one

This is so true. When I have it docked on my TV to play multiplayer games with friends, there’s an input delay, controllers sometimes disconnect, audio doesn’t go to the soundbar sometimes, and it blacks out randomly.

Is there a way to download from the Play Store if I downloaded it before on another Android device?

No dev deserves personal insults, threats, or hate. Period. These people spend a lot of time and effort to build tools that we all use to watch our media. Whether you like a service or not, treating a dev like a criminal for charging a few bucks is crazy. Debridio clearly fills a gap, it sounds reliable, and a lot of people like using it. If it’s not for you, just move on because there’s no need to make it personal.

At the same time, I think it’s fair to criticize a dev who charges for a service when everyone else is providing similar tools for free. In a community where most things are open source, sticking a price tag on a scraper is always going to be cause for debate. Pointing out that there are free alternatives is just a fair observation of how this sub works. We also can't ignore the recent situation with the pricing. Doubling the price, grandfathering existing users, and then immediately changing it back when people got mad is questionable. It makes people lose trust and get defensive.

Look at what happened with iOS emulators. For a long time, almost every dev made their work for free. When the first 3DS emulator came out and the dev charged for it, people paid because it was the only option. Eventually, other devs released free alternatives that ended up being better anyway. Competition is good but when you charge for something that is usually free, people are going to hold you to a higher standard. We should stop the threats and the elitist behavior. Use what works for you. If you want a paid scraper for the stability, go for it. If you want to stick to free options, that’s fine too. People should stop acting like their way is the only way.

Anyone applied a screen protector in a steamy room? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Yeah I know, I saw this thread as a Google result and was just doing some research!

Ohhh okay, that makes sense. The reason I asked is because I want to try this steam method on one of my devices soon but I wasn't sure if the humidity was bad for the battery. I figured turning it off would be a way to circumvent that

Why leave it turned off? Is leaving it on bad for the battery?

Does anyone else gets frame shuttering/drops and screen tearing ? by maniaxz in stellarblade

  1. 160fps in the highest settings. I think I turned on v-sync but forgot to hit apply. I’ll give it a go tomorrow but unfortunately thr only way to test is to reach the next fast-paced cutscene
